My ex wife's 12 year old nephew broke his shin bone (can't remember the technical term). He lives in Indianapolis and was snowboarding. They are going to have to operate on it but not sure when.

aww boo!

and you have two bones in your "shin" or lower leg area, the tibia and fibula. Depending on the nature of his fracture and where it could be both or just one (as if there were any other options :P)

I have found out that it's a spiral fracture so it's a really bad break. I think he broke both of them but the front bone was spiral fracture. He's a football/baseball/basketball player and exceptionally good at basketball. He is having surgery this morning.

Everything went well with him. He's going to have a LONG recovery. At first the Dr.'s thought he may lose his leg because of the severity of the break. I guess spiral fractures can be really hard to get repaired.

They were able to put it back together and he has lots of metal sticking out of his leg right now. They have said he should be able to recover about 90% of the normal use of his leg.

my mother-in-law shattered her arm in a bad fall several years ago, doctors made all kinds of dire predictions. we prayed and she has recoverd 100% use. /praying same for your family member.
