apocrypha

In your belief / opinion / research, is the apocrypha a trustworthy text and if so, why was it not included in the bible?

the entire apocrypha probably shouldn't be lumped into this concept togethor. In my studies/readings, I've found that the books that compose the Apocrypha go from being in line with scriptures to being way out in left field, having little to nothing to do with scritpures (the Gospel of Thomas is one of those)

as for why/why not on the inclusion, mainly because it didn't meet the standards that were set for inclusion in the canon of scriptures.

True.

Let us remember that in Jude, two apocryphal books were quoted from.

The Book of Enoch and The Assumption of Moses.

So, I think that you have to view the texts in context with the canonical Scripture to decipher the truths within them and the falsities as well.

PS this is all stuff I've recalled from memory, and I apologize if I managed to forget any reason these books have been proven not to have been quoted from or something odd like that.

It's the wider apocrypha you can find in the 'Z collection' in the Vatican that I'd like to read...

uuuuuuuuuuuh what is apocrypha books and what not?

apocrypha is any Christian writing (heretical or not) that is not canon. From a certain point of view everything from the book of Mormon, to the Gospel of St. Stephen to My Utmost for His Highest could be considered apocrypha.

but generally when we speak of the apocrypha, we're discussing a set of books, that almost made it into the Bible as we know it today.

The Catholic extras...in other words.
I really enjoyed Bel and the Dragon...Paul mentions Jewish fables in his letter to Titus...avoid them. That is such a little story. It has absolutely no sound whatsoever to the Bible, and I really enjoy the fact that God wasn't even a major player in that story. Daniel sprinkled dust and exposed the enemies like that...how quaintly fantastical. Why that is even considered remotely Biblical is beyond me.

If Mr. Leo Volont had been here, right about now he'd say.............

PAUL WAS STUPID YOU FOOLS HAR YAR YAR. YOU WILL ALL BURnNnNnnnNN.

Yes, right.

Okay.

...Yea

Why're you still reading this?...
