Ok, in response to Tek's previous post about the server being a "cesspool" I have decided to lock the server down for ToJ members only.

The password will be "t0j0nly", and yes, those are both zeroes. Please tell those only in ToJ. If I see non-ToJ, I will change the password again. Let's not end up locking everyone out, okay?

I have decided to do this until we get the bugs eliminated, get an appropriate mod for administration, and an updated MOTD, and rules most importantly the rules posted. I don't think it's fair to kick and ban players if they don't know the rules, so let's just avoid this whole situtation so we don't look like the bad guys here.

Perhaps "cesspool" was a bit harsh. ^_^;; But it was rather aggravating seeing profanity in every other line of text in the HLSW RCON chat window.

I agree that locking down the server is a prudent temporary measure, but I do look forward to the bugs of the Steam release being worked out (wasn't that what a beta was for?) and us all playing together with our visitors on the server.
 
I thought "cesspool" was hilarious...but something did need to be done...before you had mentioned it. This was the easiest and safest way by far.
 
Apparently the password doesn't stick. I received an ICQ from Oneidas who alerted me to some naughty activity on the server. I proceeded to set the password again, then kick all nine or ten people from the server--after explaining that I was locking the server down, of course.

Elite: I believe you'll need to add the following command into the server.cfg file:

sv_password t0j0nly

Now let's get out there and enjoy our locked server!

Also, a question for Elite: Would you mind if we distributed the server password to the other Christian Counter-Strike clans?
 
That was me, I disabled the password this afternoon as I thought someone had locked the server and forgot to unlock it.
 
I've seen admin-style mods working on other CS 1.6 servers. There must be something out there then that works. And I do second the motion to test AMX mod before deciding to use admin mod again.
 
Don't worry, I've already installed AMX mod on the server...just need to do some configs and get MetaMod working. AdminMod (at this point) doesn't even work with v1.6.

Just hang tight...we'll get it working fine. Exodus and I are working to make your server a better place.

True. Baring this in mind HLSW is extreamly limited in its commands. All I can do is  /say and /kick

Well, that's why we password protected it...so we didn't have to "babysit" those who cause problems!
 
If you don't know how linux works, go download a copy and try it yourself. It's lots of fun (well it was for me anyway). For beginners try Mandrake or Redhat. Then move up to gentoo or debian later on if you feel like it. Redhat is great for just using as a regular workstation. The learning curve is a bit on the flat side, but I like it.
