Easy, they have 25203689523526752 customers, and the game is somewhat of an addiction. So when something happens and people find out, they don't often quit out of disappointment. No matter what they do with an individual account, they never lose much money.

They can afford to do it, despite how stupid it may be.

Definitely not very ethical. :(

would you really? at this point?

Mine was a year ago and I still wouldn't have bought a new acct to start over, but I happened to have another acct already so it was harder to walk away from WoW.
 
I have been playing MMOs for 8 years, it is part of me to have an MMO to play, and WoW is the one I want to play now, so yes, I would start another account...

So years of working on your characters down the drain and you would say sure no problem sign me up again Blizz for another $50 and I'll start from scratch? THAT is why they dont unban accounts, they know people will start over if they want it bad enough, and the more you fight them the more they know you are hooked(kinda like fishing hehe)
