WHO: Tribe of Judah members with expendable income.

WHERE: Virtual environments where Christians and non-Christians can enjoy popular first-person shooter games in a family-friendly environment.

WHY: Because.

WHAT: Approximately $2000 USD for the purchase of a quality dedicated server, approximately $50 USD a month for data center hosting and bandwidth.

HOW: Financial commitment from Tribe of Judah members.

In July 2005, we, Tribe of Judah staff, took our servers offline after discovering that our former dedicated hosting service, ServerBeach, hosted pornographic content. Since then, we've been raising money for a new dedicated server.

Our goal is $2000 USD for the physical rackmount server itself, then a steady commitment of $50 USD a month from Tribe of Judah members to keep the server online.

So will God bless you with a "hundred-fold" return if you send us five bucks? Beats me. That's up to God. But I do know that every dollar members donate brings us closer to having our own servers again.

Control over our very own game servers opens up a number of new ministry opportunities. A dedicated server of our own also provides a virtual "meeting place" for our first-person chapter members to gather, form friendships, and encourage one another. And when we open our virtual doors to the world, we get to minister to more people.

Again, I won't say that your donation is going to buy God's favor. I won't say that God is calling every single member of Tribe of Judah to donate. I don't know what God is saying to you. What I do know is that a dedicated server of our own would create new mission fields in which we could serve as "living epistles" of the changes that God has made in our lives.

So if funds are really tight, don't donate--and don't you dare feel guilty about it. I recently went through a time where money was scarce and all I had to give to the community was time. Believe me when I say that I know where you're coming from.

But if you have a few extra bucks lying around and don't mind missing lunch at McDonald's once or twice a month, send it in. Tribe of Judah's current roster shows over 340 members. $2000 total and $50 a month isn't a crazy objective, trust me.
