Can a guy be a "bride?"

Wirl

on to something new...
in the Bible, it says that we (Christians) will be a "bride" for Jesus. HOW CAN A GUY BE A BRIDE?

I can't wait to see all of your opinions on this one.

GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU, GREATLY!!!!!!!!!!

we are the spiritual brides of Christ, remember in Ephisians i think 3:28 it says there is niether man nor woman when it comes to salvation.

being a bride is the spiritual mirriage of God to man. as a wife should submit to her husband so we should submit to God, hence the terminology, God is using th closest thing we have to describe the relationship He will have with us.

Submission of the wife does not mean dominance by the husband.

I do believe our human sexuality will have no influence on our spirituality.  Although we veiw God in the male gender, I hardly believe God has any requirement for male sexuallity. God creates, not procreates.  I don't recall ever seeing what gender roles will play in heavan, I wonder, will it be insignificant?  I am not convinced my new body will be of any gender.  Thus, our marriage to the bridegroom is spiritual and not sexual.

Wow, what an aweosme response, I believe that we as husbands and wives in Heaven will have children there too. When God created man originally, He told them to "be fruitful and multiply." Why can't we also have spiritual children as well. HEY WAIT A MINUTE!!!! We can, leading someone to salvation is kind hav'n a spiritual child too. The question of being brides, leads to so many pathes, to being parents, brothers/sisters, and HUSBANDS/WIVES. In particular to our role as Jesus' "IDEAL WOMEN" (hehe)

GOD BLESS!!!

I think you should have put this in the religious discussion. I would really like to hear a few more responses. Btw my understand is that "the church" ( all christian when they come together) is the "bride" of Christ. So yet all lords and ladies will be brides so to speak. And I believe we will see all of our children in heaven even those like myself who have yet to meet them. Just my opinion. Blessings,"Angel"

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Mechboy, we love you kid =P

But yes, submission of the wife isn't about the dominance of the husband or the reverse of that, but more the want of either spouse to please one another out of love. (There's certainly more to it than that, Biblically speaking, but that's the jest of it)

Hormones suck, Mech...Make sure you don't get carried away with em' =]

aww man its just a parable! Its not literal, God says no one is married in heaven, so there.

He means it as he is waiting for us to unite and that we mean alot to him.

Oh, and about the subject at hand...

I've heard everything from "We won't even know who each other are, only that we're in heaven...This is the only way to remove the more 'human' characteristics about us, such as anger or sexual impurity" to "Each family will live in the mansion given to them by God, husbands and wives will still make love and even birth children and there will even still be marriage."

I guess I'm somewhere a bit compromised between the two

no sex, no reporduction, no marriege. We will know who ew are but our sinful nature will be removed so we will have no desire for anger or sex, we will be glorified and holy.

so you are saying Sex is a sin? funny i believe that was the first commandment God gave adam and eve in the garden, to be fruitful and fill the earth.

I never said sex was a sin. I said it will be unnecisary because there will be no reproduction. And if there is no marrige then the only sex there was would have to be a sin, because sex outside of marrige is sin..... So there will just not be any sex or desire for it.

where do you find that in the Bible that their will be no marriage. You have to realize that John, Paul, and Jesus all use marriage as the closest thing that we humans have to even come close to fathoming the relationship we will have with God.

Where... Hmm I cannot tell you because like everything else I do not exactly remember. However I know its there and is plainly worded, no one will be married in heaven.

If marriege is in heaven then how do you explain us being married to our spouse and to God? You can only be married to one.

I don't recall that through all my studies, though I'd be happy to sit down and have you show it to me..

Anyone believe any of the stories that Jesus Himself may have been married? If so, does that change your view on anything He said throughout His ministry? It certainly gave me a new perspective when a friend of mine first mentioned it a couple of years ago.

(Just to play devil's advocate and throw a kink into the works......What if the old way of doing things, such as polygamy were to be reinstated in heaven? Then we'd be allowed to have several spouses!) <---trying to start conversation to get people thinking.

I coucldnt show it as I dont remember where it is, but I know its there. Call me a liar if you want.

Jesus is God, he wouldnt marry a human thats just absurd for him to choose one human over any.

he isnt choosing one human over all others.. he is choosing us as a whole

and if you really believe that it's in the bible that there will be no marriage in heaven.. find it.. you found it once, so i'm sure you'll be able to find it again.. and when you do.. show us where it is

no.... read what I said again and ewhat it was in response to.

I was responding to the consideration of Jesus marrying a human woman. I said this is not true because God would never choose one woman over any other.
