Cannot use on-line games with people

Before, I wanted to see if using Mac address would solve my sister's wireless connection problems.

As it rebooted the connection, it never worked. Took me a few hours to try anything that I can think of to work, unfortuately, I couldn't, so I pressed the reset button on the router.

Right now, the only on-line game I can play with others/people/players is EVE.

Starcraft/Brood War: Get disconnected 5-7 mins later.
Counter-Strike 1.6/Source: Get disconnected 5-7 mins later.
Command & Conquer 3: Get disconnected 5-7 mins later.

Its 1 of 3 problems that I can see:

1. I'm not using the proper fowarding port numbers.

2. I have to re-install all my games that doesn't work with others/people/players on-line.

3. The new VOIP phone adapter is disrupting my gaming connections altogether.

I'm extremely positive #1 is good since I have fowarded ports on every firewall settings that I have.

my guess is that if it was working fine before, I would seriously consider investigating #3

Test the games with the computer straight into the internet bypassing your router and phone, next plug in the router and test it, then finally plug in your VOIP phone. That should help identify which piece of the puzzle is causing the problem.

I will say that I have had problem with Starcraft and it seemed to be due to firewall issues even though I thought that I had opened all of the necessary ports. Unfortunately it's been a while, so I don't recall what I did to fix it, but I'm pretty sure that I did manage to get it working.

This is what I have configured for Starcraft & World of Warcraft:

Battlenet
TCP/UDP 4000, 6112-6119

World of Warcraft
TCP 3724, 6881-6999

It's funny but for battle.net i don't have to open anything(unless i'm hosting hte game which i don't do most times).

Welp, with further test, it has come to a conclusion.

I'm sure the 591.6% must be a glitch from mytest.net

Playing on-line with others/people/players with router & modem, no problems. Unfortuately, with Voip adapter, the same problems occuring each game except EVE.

If none of you know how to bypass, filter, or get port forwarding from the Voip adapter, I can call my ISP and hope they can fix it.

As for what kind of Router, Modem and Voip Adapter I got, here:

Router
D-Link Gaming Router

Modem
Motorola SURFboard Cable Modem

Voip Adapter
Linksys Voip Phone Adapter

mine is with vonage and its like hescominsoon described but try the way the manual suggests and see what happens

Naw mate....

manual says:

internet -> modem -> router -> voip -> phone

Looking at the posts on the Viop adapter....it's a wonder it even works at all.

Check Page 11 on the pdf version. Page 5 on the paper.

Well, it works now.

internet -> modem -> router -> voip -> phone

That is what it is setup now.

I'm good then, thanks everyone.
