Combining groups

Tribe of Judah Aion Chapter Leader
Hi all,

I'm of the mindset -The more the marrier. As such I was wondering if it might be possible that we combine our Aion guild with another. isichristianclan.net only has about 6 as far as I can tell. So, they would possibly join us if anything.

I've googled for a Christaion group playing Aion for 2 days. Ours and their's are the only 2 that I have found (my serch skills aren't the best). I think it would be beneficial to both parties if we made 1 bigger an thus more active group on 1 server instead of 2 smaller one's on different servers.
It's better to know that when you login you'll find at least 6+ on at the same time rather then 2 or 3.

I have already left a post in their forum with the suggestion. I apologize if my unapproved actions cause any trouble. But I did so because pre-selections starts tomorrow. An my "new" status account restrictions have prevented me from properly asking anyone (I can't even pm).

The group I'm refereing to is Iron sharpens Iron. The forum link is - http://www.isichristianclan.net/ISI/viewforum.php?f=181

Welcome to the forums, UXZero!

While I can see the advantages of combining groups, the issue rests with determining which gaming group the combined Aion guild would be a part of.

If two groups of Christian gamers were independently looking to form an Aion guild from the ground up (rather than as new chapters of an existing gaming group), it would be easy enough to combine the two pockets of players and form one larger guild.

Since Tribe of Judah and Iron Sharpens Iron are both established Christian gaming groups, trying to create a shared guild would be prohibitively complicated and confusing to members. Would the guild fall under the Tribe of Judah's banner or Iron Sharpens Iron's? Would it fall under either? If it didn't fall under either, would the new guild have any relation to ToJ or ISI?

Though I understand and appreciate your reasoning, I think it would be best if ToJ and ISI each created separate guilds. Both groups have considerable experience starting new projects in the Christian gaming community and the size of the Aion player base would indicate that there's more than enough room for at least two Christian guilds. (Just look how many there are for World of WarCraft!)

Two guilds also (likely) means a Christian guild presence on two servers. That's one of the major advantages to having two guilds.

With all that said, I do plan on contacting ISI leadership as President of the Christian Gamers Alliance soon to discuss the possibility of ISI joining the CGA.

Hi Tek,

Thank you for the reply.

"Would the guild fall under the Tribe of Judah's banner or Iron Sharpens Iron's?""

I don't understand all the poltics of CGA or ISI. But I was thinking of something like a joint effort or equall affiliation. Basicaly all the guild stuff would be handled in-game, so not to favor one site or the other. An either site could be sited as a way of contact.
I believe that you could also set the head of each site as a lvl 1 rank in the legion. This would require communication between the 2. Make sure each has a similar idea for what direction to take.

That was the rough idea I had in my head.

I know WoW has a lot. An that AION has a very large pre-order base. I just haven't been able find many references to Christian groups forming something in AION. An thought that making 1 stronger group an then branching off from there would be a better start.
I will admit that my suggestion is also part insecurity. I don't know how much you all play, an I dread the idea of logging in an finding a ghost guild. I've never started with a pre-oganization like this, an I very much want to see a Christian clan thrive in Aion.

On a side note - Are there any requirments for joining the guild? Like manner of conduct or somthing?

I can't speak for ISI, but the Christian Gamers Alliance is a gathering of Christian gaming groups and web sites. Tribe of Judah is one of the groups that comprises the Alliance.

I tend to cringe at the word "politics," especially if used in the context of the Christian gaming community. There are multiple Christian gaming groups with multiple styles and separate member bases (though there is some crossover between groups that allow membership in multiple groups). We're all working toward the same goals (glorify God, spread the Gospel through word and action, and have fun) but with different approaches and different people.

From an administrative perspective, that sounds more complicated than would be worthwhile. From a member perspective, it sounds confusing.

Troubles would arise if the two heads disagreed on an important matter, though.

I do see what you're getting at and I agree it might work well in a different context, but I think two separate guilds with clear chains of command are going to be more effective than one guild with a far more complicated structure.

Based on reaction from members of the Christian gaming community, I think Aion will definitely have a large enough player base to support more than two active guilds. The guilds may not grow to the size of some of the larger Christian WoW guilds (Redeemed and The Forgiven come to mind), but that doesn't mean they're any less successful. A MMO doesn't need anywhere near 9 million subscribers to turn a profit and a guild doesn't need anywhere near 200+ members to be a success. (I know, I'm probably preaching to the choir, but I felt like it needed to be said.)

On a side note - Are there any requirments for joining the guild? Like manner of conduct or somthing?
The only requirement for joining the Aion guild is membership in Tribe of Judah.

The Guild Leader may look at incorporating a sponsorship program (for lack of a better term) like the one used in Redeemed, where non-Christian friends and family can join the in-game guild (even though they aren't eligible to join Tribe of Judah) under the immediate supervision of the person who vouched for them.

To start off with, though, it's best to keep things simple and keep the requirements strictly limited to membership in ToJ.

Sorry Tek, TL;DR it all
however, if they roll elyos on siel, i would think it cool to DEFINATELY form an alliance with them (the in-game alliance tool).
my eyes breezed over politics... /shudder

edit: that is... if they don't combine.. etc...

I consider 30ish a healthy amount. :) I really don't like large size stuff; things are better when you can stay personal and don't get lost in the crowd.

That is true. I just sometimes like to attempt things if the payoff seems good and the risk minimal. Two new groups starting wouldn't need much to rebuild. Anyway, I just wanted to present the possibility. :)

TL;DR it all

Huh?
