no flaming on microsoft.

Ok anytime i try and open certain .avi's and mpgs my windows media player dies and no other media player can play them with sound. i created a video in premier and no sound.... it plays sound for me when im looking at it then after exporting no sound. and when i try and access my 2ndary hd , explorer dies on me and wants to send a report to microsoft. ive scanned everything, defragged and everything coming out clean. ideas?

rofl, update your motherboard drivers, you may also have a io problem which windows doesnt like. try opening the disk in the device manager and see if it has any errors.

as for the media, you may want to update your sound drivers, it *may* fix that.

you may want to try mplayer or xine in windows, xine has some of the best dvd playback ive seen, plus it plays just about anything you throw at it. (just like vlc)

mobo and sound drivers fully updated. trying ur mplayer

still no worky, is there a way to manage codecs and delete them then start from scratch or something?

edit: VLC played my other avi's that werent working....... but am i able to use it as a codec with premier pro 2.0 and how do i fix windows so it doesnt crash?

its because you updated your drivers :P with windoz when something goes wrong, make sure the drivers are up to date, because they always find one more bug to fix.

yeah i know, thats why on my compaq i used orignal sound drivers, the new updates made everything die. thanks vibro, i love you man
