Computer Problems! Help!

Okay, I haven't been on GW in the last few days because... I have had to reformat twice and right now my computer won't even boot up. I called Geeksquad hoping they could tell me what it was. They say its a virus (which isnt covered by the service plan of course). I don't understand what is going on because I completely wiped my hard drive like I said. I even downloaded the things I needed on my wife's computer and then installed on mine before I connected. What happens is usually I leave it on over night and when I wake up the internet won't connect so I reboot and it reboots, goes to blue screen of death saying its dumping physical data. Then it goes into windows. Yesterday I shut it down completely, and when I went to boot up this morning it went to blue screen and then rebooted itself three times... at that point I shut it down and havent looked at it since. Can anyone tell me what is going on or at least what to say when I have it looked at so they don't take me for a fool? Thanks!

Does your computer have partitions or separate hard drives? If so try installing windows on a different one and if not you may just have to buy a new hdd. I don't see how a virus can withstand a format.

Sounds like a hard drive problem to me too. I'd get a new one and load Windows onto it. Hard drives are relatively cheap. If it turns out that you don't need it, you can use it for storage. It's also possible that the mobo is having issues.

I don't think it's a virus. Geeksquad's answer to everything is "It's a virus!"

Find out what company made your drive and go to their website and put in your serial number. If it's under warranty they will replace it free. Usually if it comes with a pc it only has a year warranty.
They also have a repair program to use on their drives to see if it is bad. Just follow their instructions. A floppy may be required.
Also swap your power lead out to your drive with another one and see if it might be a power issue.
