"Dearest one in Christ..." Spam already?

I don't know if this helps but I happen to have a spare account on CGA and this particular spam only came to the lower post count one. Anyway something made it selective because not everyone got one.

I have added that users e-mail address to the email ban list on the forums. I hae also installed a couple of patches onto the forums that were needed..:)

Tek and company, y'all do a great job. :) TechnoChicks is tiny by comparison, and even we get hit every now and then by the spambots. It happens, and the staff at CGA is always quick to respond.

banning by ip address e-mail, and FQDN is built into the forums..don't have to mess with apache at all..:)
I know it's insanely easy for us to do that at TC; I was hoping it was just as easy for y'all. I know I've never gone into Apache for anything!

I've had that one, but I've also received at my (non-linked to this site) own email address.

For your viewing pleasure, anyone who randomly checks with Churches for their giving direction and who puts a tag saying "respond back soon or else I change to another church" in their proposal obviously is not checking for the leading of the Holy Spirit on this one (the Holy Spirit tends to give more definite answers, y'all.)

What they're looking for is greedy churches. Because Christians are ultimately easy prey when they're discerning by greed and not spirit.

There's no easy automated way to do that right now..:)

I bet it could be accomplished using something like akismet, once the user gets to a certain quota then they could stop being filtered. Allow people to mark PMs as "spam" and admins to mark posts as spam and automatically delete them.

I may have to see how hard that would be to implement if I ever bother to write my own forum software for the heck of it.
