Discuss: New chapter candidates

SSBB definately. idk if CGA/ToJ plays that many other Mulitplayer games. Or at least enough of a game that consititues a chapter..

For all the geekiness of it. Megamek. Picture D&D online, with robots. Myself and VK have been playing several matches, more or less turned by a sudden lucky shot which proceeded to blow off the cockpit. Best thing is: the game is free, you don't need any site to host, just someone with enough internet power to support a couple players, and you can customize the rules to almost any extent you want. We could even do tournaments....though I'm not sure how to use custom 'mechs....

EDIT: I suppose I could lead it...I probably have the most experience with the game, both virtual and physical. I could also create custom weapons which would need to be distributed to all participants in order to be recognized by the game.

Link?

EDIT: And if we're going to get a Brawl chapter going, we'll need a Chapter Leader and chapter support staff.

Oh easy.
Megamek Site: http://megamek.sourceforge.net/idx.php?pg=main
Dowload the "Current Stable" version here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=47079

All you need to know is your IP address, and make sure that you dont have your firewall blocking it. It's quite fun. If anyone wants to play a match with me, just get the game and send me a PM.

EDIT: My AIM is minimucha02@aol.com if anyone would like to ask me questions about it.
Also, for fun, this is what a damage report looks like:
Vehicle: <<<CRITICAL HIT>>> Power plant hit. BOOM!
Mech: ER Large Laser at Hellbringer MC-J; needs 4, rolls 5 : hits (using Punch table) HD
Hellbringer MC-J takes 8 damage to HD. 1 Armor remaining.

TS would probably greatly help in this. I personally like 2 humans versus a bot. Example: Me and VK each have one 'mech, the bot has 2, somehow, we lose, even with minefields. The bots are actually quite hard.

megamek ftw

The lurning curve is not that bad for those who are somewhat familiar with the mechwarrior franchise. The game does all the rules for you so you can conveniently click away where you want to move, who to attack, etc without having to do all the math!

For those who want to learn it, download the game then load up a scenario (the great refusal group is good due to it only being a total of 4 mechs) then experimental with the combat system. It only took me a few hours to learn it pretty well (well enough where I can almost beat a bot equally :\)

Also, this game will accommodate for nearly any player type. Fast and Furious, or stand-up slugfest. It's quite a good strategy game. The rules are VERY customizable, and you can choose what "Era" you're in so that weapons are restricted. They can be a piece of cake for new players, then set up rules to absurd for the aces.

/bump

BassMan449 is heading the hot-off-the-press Wii chapter, which inspired me to look through old threads and move Wii-related threads to the new Wii Chapter Forum.

I spotted this thread and decided to bump it in case anyone had new ideas for new chapters.

Warhammer is not on this list?

/topic off
I didn't add Warhammer to the list because it's pretty much a given at this point that we'll have a Warhammer chapter.

did the BD4L inform you of the events or did you just cave?
I do not know the events of which you speak. I just figured the Warhammer Online chapter had been in the planning stages for a while, so it was more or less a sure thing.

/BD4L speech

Warhammer will have its own chapter, and if it does not, we will usurp the World of Warcraft chapter. The first stages have already begun, if you have been paying attention.

/end BD4L speech

How soon will we get a Warhammer Chapter going?

:D
