yes, I attend weekly services, like I have all my life. I volunteer also. The last 5 months, my family and I have taken over cleaning the church and keeping it up. (3 hrs a week). We have gotten paid for 2 months out of the 5.
Actually this Tuesday, i'm going down to the building to fix a busted furnace cold air return pipe that ripped loose 2 weeks ago, and make it last like we did when we fixed the furnace and piping. I do most of my volunteering at church (although, i dont consider it volunteering, i consider it doing the Lords work), so i refuse to take credit for it as community service for any classes or organizations.

i weekly go to a baptist church and run the sound and i help run media setup for my youthgroup each week

I chose "other".

This is mainly because of two things:

1. We are looking for a church (but I also can't say we're really trying [I'm really at the mercy of my parents in terms of getting around places]).
2. Me and a few of my younger siblings are involved with a church near us quite a bit. We don't go there -- nor do we wish to -- due to the way they run ship.

Yeah, I go to an awesome baptist church with an incredible youth group. We go on all these mission trips about three times a year and do community projects every Thursday. We also do some fun stuff on Thursdays too (community projects are fun too), and sometimes we just go on fun trips. For instance, 2 summers ago we took a trip from El Paso all the way up to Washington to see Creation Fest West 2004. We went rafting and stayed in churches and did all this fun stuff on the way there. Took us a whole 2 weeks to get there and back because we were just messing around the whole way. That was an insane trip.

I do attend regularly and attempt to be at church every time the doors are open. I base this conviction on:

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

While I have worked in various ministries within the church, at this time I feel led to be in the deaf ministry. I have a list carved upon my heart as to certain attributes that are important in the church body that I attend. Of utmost importance is a church that is concerned with leading others to Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. Another item of importance is a bus ministry. This enables those who are unable to come to church to attend. At this time, I am guessing our bus ministry consists of 95% children whose parents do not attend. The other 5% are handicapped individuals, adults who do not drive, and parents who choose to ride the bus with their children.

I find it interesting, and see fruits of arguments concerning things that God has said even here within the forums. I think the verse above is clear, concise, and not to be argued against. It is clear that God wants us in church. For me, I have etched on the table of my heart desires to be in the dead, bulls eye center of God's will concerning my daily walk, family, job, mate, geographical location, ect... In that case, the first and foremost things I should do are those things that are already stated in His Word. If I don't follow those things that He has laid out in His Book, then I cannot expect Him to give me the things near and dear to my heart in which He has His perfect will.

I once heard a story told by my Preacher. He and a church mate visited a number of member's homes who had not been attending church. Each had an excuse that was understandable. The last house they went to the man explained that he had not attended church in awhile because he had a milk carton in his refrigerator! The Preacher nodded and smiled...one excuse is as good as another! We each received milk carton key chains as a reminder of that message!

I believe God wants us in church to serve and be a blessing, as much as to receive a blessing and grow. Yet, of top priority is to have the heart attitude as we go to honor the LORD, putting Him first and loving Him most!

Sorry my post is so long for such a simple question. This is a subject tht God has dealt with me about. It has been said, "Don't call in, crawl in," concerning church attendance, and it takes a thousand gallon of water to baptize a Christian in a church, but only one drop to keep him out!

we left are church due to the people there.
tho my parents arnt rilly looking in to new ones i bug them evey day abowt it

I chose option 4: I am currently searching for a home church.

I had no intentions of searching for a church... It wasn't a concern of mine, not to say that it never was. I just haven't thought much about it, that is untill a friend of mine impressed upon me the importance of tithing and reminded me that the bible states that we should not forsake the fellowship of brethren in Christ. So now im searching for a Church. The area that im in doesn't have alot of youth and that kind of discourages me.

Ah! thats the one Hebrews 10:25 =-)... did you use to go by Suzannah? or Suzie?

HMM, Sound techs who are also gamers. There seem to be a few of us here. My wife and I are both fairly active and help where we can.

Staying with a church can be a struggle sometimes. My wife recently interviewed for the part-time Children's ministry director at our church, but was not chosen. In her disappointment, she suggested that we start looking for another church. Fortunately, I think she has changed her mind, although it is still difficult at times for her. Ultimately, staying was more of being (and staying) a part of that church family.

No, this is my real name and a usually easily available nic in any area of the Net to obtain! :) I do have a cousin with that name and we look a lot alike.
Working with the sound booth must be a real treat! Our church also video records our services. If you are making recordings, this gives a whole new meaning to going out and preaching the Gospel. So many more souls can be reached!

Heh, one of the first polls that had interested me on here.

I used to do sound quite a bit too, and am starting to get back into it.

I go to church, sort of.... We have had a lot of health problems with our daughter which had presented some challenges in regular attendance. Nothing major, but definately repetative. Now that we are past them, I do believe we will be back to a regular attendance schedule. I want to be more involved in the church we attend, maybe even become a member, but it has been really challenging after coming out of a stressful church experience that lasted for many months.

Weekly we attend service
www.rejoice-lc.org
Our church which is only 2 years old and has over 200 weekly attendees now.
We have two colleges in town and draw 30 to 50 students weekly. We are still looking for land on which to build but are meeting much resistance from the city I live in. Amazing how zoning laws can change so fast !!
We meet in the High School Auditorium and have a "Hero Squad" which I am part of and we set up the worship bands equipment. Plus everything else needed for a service. I belong to a mens group, I am leading the Motorcycle Ministry Group and my wife and I belong to a weekly Bible Study Group.
After 40 plus years of off and on searching for a church I finally found one I feel completely comfortable at, as does my family.

I chosse other for a few reasons;

1. Now that my whole family has heard wind of me accepting Christ, they're all trying to get me to go to church with them. My uncle's, in my opinion is too large. My parents is too offensive, my sister well she goes but doesn't really get it unfortunately.
2. I just went to this church today, and I've never been so compelled in any church. I doubt I'll leave it save a few possible excpetions. Like moving or my ex and I get back togather inwhich case, I would go to her and her grandparents church if I can't get her to go to the one Im so excited about.

The Deaf ministry is really cool. Makes me wish I was in your area because I need to learn sign language, but no one around to help me. I have a partial hearing loss myself, and one of these day's i'll have someone to converse with so I won't forget everytime I start trying to learn it again.

On this page of the site there is a book called Sign Language for Everyone. It was my first book on the language and I love it because it gives not only illustrations, but examples of why the signs are signed in the fashion that they are. For example, the sign for boy is as if a boy were straightening his cap! It is a wonderful ministry and usually one that does not have near enough volunteers. There are many resources out there if you want to learn. I recommend starting with this book.

Will do. There is a gentleman in my class that is deaf, so when I feel comfortable actually using sign language, as not to make a fool of myself. Then I will talk to him more without the translator :-). Thank you again Marcylene.
