dvd-r help needed

ok i just got a tdk dvd-rw external drive for christmas *does happy dance*. however im having some difficulties burning dvds useing the roxio dvd builder. when it gets half way through it, it stops for some error, and the disk is ruined. ive done this 2x, but thankfully my parents bujaght a dvd-r 50 pack so im set for a while. any ideas?
 
cant remember error, im useing a compaq presario, amd athlon xp, 2600+, 256mb ddr ram, windows xp. im useing the roxio dvd builder program, im useing tdk print on dvd-r, and its the external tdk indiDVD+r/+RW/cd burner
 
seems to be owrking now, something happened while it was encoding it to the dvd, i think i might have put something that was to big for it to handle or something like that.
