Farewell Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, by the name of Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered for having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the
early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge).
Common Sense's health began to rapidly deteriorate when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher
fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant. Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was
hot, spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility, and his son, Reason. He is survived by a stepbrother and step sister, My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended Common Sense's funeral because so few realized he was
gone.

Heh, how true, CCGR. I'm appauled at how often people my age, late teens to mid twenties, are completely and totally out of it when it comes to common sense things... I've noticed that a lot of young parents are so....Immature themselves, I don't know how they'll be able to raise the child they have o,o. Like earlier this month, I saw a young man talking to his child, and the kid asked if he could go play across the street with his friend--the kid was all of five. Dad says, "Sure, go ahead" then turns on his heel and walks inside. That little kid turns to the street, and lo-and-behold comes a huge truck barreling down the road. He was taking his first step by the time I got to him, and I grabbed him by the back of his shirt and pulled him back onto the grass. About that time, that truck zoomed by, and its rear view mirror on the passenger side took out a mailbox we were standing next to. Talk about fear...o_O

But uh, yeah, common sense has gone from us in general, as a people, and those of us who do have common sense often provoke others to stares and see them as having "uptight attitudes".

ggnore common sense.

no one takes responsibility for their actions anymore

don't blame the devil. There's a difference between putting the gun in your hand, and pulling the trigger.

Very nice CCGR, but a kids pregnantsy has nothing to do with the parents, so u don't have to tell them. If the kid is a certain age. But the whole sueing because the cup didn't say hot, I thiught was a joke.:)
Even pizza boxes now say hot on them, like we buy cold pizza from pizza hut.

my dad was talking about this the other day and how its apart of the liberal party which actually persacutes the christian faith due to them making everyone NOT responsible to anyone and then just bout forcing that on everyone. and actually that is the truth when u look at all the plans the kerry administration has done.

I know, but alot of the guys on the forum are not old enough to vote.
And in the end Kerry will reign supream

Bush is the lesser of two evils.

And at any rate, you're Canadian. How about I join one of your forums and start complaining about Paul Martin?

Ah lets not get into a futile political debate. Neither side is sure to win, the race is very close. Neither side is perfect either, but it's a matter of opinion which is more so.

Go ahead I'd join u in complaing about Paul. Personally I didn't like any of the parties that ran for office.:)

Maybe in the USA you need insane amounts of money. I think in Canada you have to be able to post a $50,000 bond. Which, although many people don't have in their pockets today, many people can access through friends, family and leveraging assets.

I'm still paying my student loan off, and am trying to save up for a car and my own house. I put those things above running for office.

Well I know you only need a certain amount to begin your campaign, I was referring to all expenses that come along with running for president. Of course, Mechboy wouldn't have to do all the rest.. But I think it's too late for him to run anyways. In order for his name to be on the balot, he has to get a certain percentage of votes during the primaries or something. lol, whatever. :P
