I loved Final Fantasy, but it just doesn't hold my appeal any longer, especially since the newer ones are going downhill a bit. You play them once, you move on. That's why I play WoW now.
Xenogears never held my attention because it was so incredibly boring and tedious. Great music though. FF8, well the gameplay sucked. It was repetitive and stupidly easy and imbalanced. FF7 In my opinion, is overrated and is only held in its regard because it was the first really commercially successful one in the US. FF6 and Tactics I think are the actual best ones.
If you think I'm being a little too harsh, just wait until you hear what I have to say about Chrono Cross

FF6 > FF4 > FF5 > FF9 > FF7 > A kick in the face > FF8

My problem with FF8? After playing the game for four hours, I had found absolutely no reason to care whether my characters lived, died, or got eaten by a Marlboro. The characters are just not worth caring about.
The same is true of FF7, with the exception of Aeris. Fortunately, FF7 had several other things going for it: awesome graphics (for its time), decent (but overrated) story, terrific battle system (likely the best part of the entire game), and excellent settings (as in locations). It was also the first FF for the Playstation, which meant that the graphic advancements were fresh. FF8, while featuring super-shiny graphics, didn't represent as marked a jump as from FF6 to FF7.
On Chrono Trigger:
Chrono Trigger > Every other RPG ever made
Chrono Cross, while itself a good game bordering on excellent, does not deserve the "Chrono" in its title. Perhaps nothing ever could.

Nope, Chrono Cross is not even deserving of the title "RPG" or even "game". I even have written some long dissertations about why Chrono Cross is one of the worst games ever made. That's right, I hate it with a passion. I'm afraid it would be off topic though, but I will post it if you want me to. And this will forever tarnish my opinion of Chrono Trigger, even though CC is not actually a sequal to CT, but a remake of Radical Dreamers.[b said:

CT is no where near as epic with its 25-30 hour gameplay needed to beat it, and any and all stories based on time travels are filled with more holes than swiss cheese. CT is no exception. I admit I don't remember the specifics about the story and if I'm wrong on this aspect then so be it. But I don't remember the story making any sense at times. Nevertheless, it is still a great game but I could never see why it is thought of as one of the best all time.

My favorite RPG is morrowind. But I also really liked a lot of REALLY old games. Like Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy from Infocom way back in the '80s. A great text adventure game. Obviously those games don't hold up today, but at the time, it kept me occupied for a long time.
For action games, Tomb Raider had me hooked when it came out on the PSone and Mario 64 was a great game as well. On the Super NES, Rolling Thunder was sweet too.
Too many good games out there! Oh well, it's fun to think about all of them.

prince of persia sands of time?....that new one on ps2.....HAHAHAH that game was so...well...words can't explain....but i'll tell you it's not good. lol yumms play fatal frame 2 haha its so scary...and ummm i play cs, and yahoo pool!!!!! haw haw sphinx and the return of the mummy was awesome..but it gave me motion sickness the first two nights of playing it haha so beware....but really....i loved that game lol but..it was sad at the end..i wanted to cry.:O
