I am still choosing to belive and disbelive whatever.
I hope that's true Byblos.

Remember, a good teacher will show you the facts and let YOU make the important decisions.

because there is no absolute truth in post modern thinking, but that is an absolute statement.

Tolerance is fine to a point. with a true post-modern thinking anything goes i could be able to kill someone and that is moral in my book, but to your it may not be. it is all about me and self focused. every civilzation through out history that has lived this way has fallen, ours will be no different.

I'm wary of slapping a label an anything because it often becomes too vague and tries to umbrella too many elements into its description. PostModern thinking suffers from the same problem. It is a very vague term and tries to encompass too much.

This would be a great topic of discussion in its own thread. For that reason I won't discuss it here. I will address the point that you have made though. I don't believe that you are correct in asserting that you could kill anyone or do harm to anyone under postmodernism. This would fall under the section of Relativism- everything is ok, what works for me is truth, what works for you is truth, everything is based on context and there is no absolutes. However, one should note that in this philosophical model, the community is stressed. If one creates transgression upon the community it would eventually fall into itself and chaos would ensue, thus destroying the model. Law and order are still values that have their place in PostModern thinking. So I'm not sure if your suggestion of chaos really fits into it.

law and order are chaos in this culture, you can get away with anything. Not because you excape but because the authority is to corrupt. FOr example just the other day some girl was drunk dirving down my street and smashed into a parked car. she tried to excape but the cops got her. and upon discovering she was a cute girl, they let her off without even a ticket or anything. Thats chaos really.

This sounds like it should go in my morallity thread, as I've been talking about stuff like this for a while now. I agree with you that tolerance can only go so far, but if you are implying that tolerating homosexuality is going to far I would have to disagree. And I don't think I fall under the category of a post modern thinker by your definition, for I do believe that there is and can be objective truth.

Oh Byblos, I'm sorry, but I cannot believe that for one second.

WHY would police let a girl, no matter how cute, walk away from the scene of a crime. What would the owner of the car do?

I'm sorry Byblos, I'm calling you out on this one.

Yes it is.

It shouldn't be, but it is.
