it's "final fantasy V" in the original Japanese numbering system.

The one I am thinking of is Final Fantasy III in the American system or Final Fantasy VI by the Japanese. Its where you end up dividing the world into a whole new thing after a large scale event.
I know it was ported to the playstation a while back, along with another final fantasy or two.

FFVI is also out on the Gameboy Advance--and a great game for a handheld.
FFVI is also available on the PSX. If the FFVI PSX port is anything like the Chrono Trigger PSX port, though, I recommend skipping the purchase. The CT PSX port had mad lag, which made it worse (though easier to find and purchase) than the original SNES version.
Of course, if you own the original SNES cartridge, then you can always snag the SNES ROM and load up ZSNES.
