Fire gear farming

Guys since we have now downed Domo we need to really push to get everyones fire gear above the 125 minimum. Thats at least what it is for casters. Higher the better but anyway lets go on a serious push for all to get fire gear. I know there is gear in, Blackrock Depths, UBRS, and Dire Maul.
Everyones Focus should be on this. Rhag will not go down untill over 90% of our raid force is at the minimum fire resistance unbuffed of 125. I will be solely working on this when Im on this week. That and the EoS if anyone needs to farm for it. So give me a tell and lets get er done. Everyone talk it up and lets help each other out just like we have been doing for the EoS for the Priests.

Very true, Rag is nearly a fully fire damage fight.

His Mellee range knockback can be resisted with high FR gear
His Ranged knockback can be resisted with high FR gear
His Lava splash damage can be resisted with high FR gear

But don't neglect stats. Green FR gear should be replaced with blue FR gear when the chance presents itself. Blue FR gear should be replaced with purple FR gear.

If you are Reverred with the Argent Dawn you can get +5 FR enchanted on your shoulders...

Odale I think your missing the point of the post. I don't care if they have or have not been farming for fire gear. In fact I talked to one member the other day and the coment was that they were not concerned for fire gear atm because they figured that they could just go fridays when we clear most of the boss's and get purples and skip the Saturday raid for Domo, Rhag. They felt that there were other things more important than getting fire gear. There could be more people out there that have this mentality. People also need help from people who have fire gear on their character allready. People who have fire gear should be getting the people who do not to farm for it. By pushing and helping everyone we will get Rhag down faster. I for one with Paster am one of those people who need more fire gear. I sure can't go do it on my own and I know there are alot of new and some old 60's that dont have their fire gear up to what is required so we need to all help help help.

I have 142 unbuffed right now but need to get Laraptor up higher and would also love to get a little better FR gear, If mavelin posts id love to know how he got so close to 200 FR and id also love to get better FR gear with more stats so im not giving up as much DPS.

One other question was that rag fight just a total wipe plan anyway? I know a lot of people werent wearing FR OR stat gear to avoid a few S or maybe a G on repair but im wondering how much FR is needed to resist some of Rag's attacks and how much we can get with pally buffs, etc if we really attempt it instead of just trying to wipe as fast as possible so Fallen can come farm him

Raid leaders knew it was not going to be successful only because of the lack of experience of the group. The key to that fight is to get Rag down to 40% or under during stage one. It would be nice if people just sucked up the 1g repair bill and actually gave it their all to see if they could even do it.

Nobody ever down Rag the first time they summon him. Does that mean they shouldn't give their all? No. Because if we know we can get him to 39% before stage two with 95% of the raid up, then we know we have to work on stage two strats.

The only person who needs to be sure to resist most of the Rags attacks is the MT, which can be done once they achieve 315 FR (buffed)

The mellee knockback can be avoided by moving 5 yards away from Rag. This knockback is on a predictable 25 second timer and is preceeded by Rag shouting "Taste the Flames of Sulfuron." It is resistable, but it is much better to be avoided. Step back, be sure Tanks keep agro, reingage.

The range knockback can be avoided by keeping more then 20 yards away from your neighbor. It happens every 20 to 30 seconds and is preceeded by Rag shouting "By fire be purged." It is resistable, but easier to avoide by staying as far from everybody as possible.

There is a lava splash that occours through out the fight and it doesn't matter where you are, if you are range or not. If you are in close proximity of a lava flow (say within 20 yards) you'll take damage from it.

These are the three attacks everybody needs to be aware of (there are others but occur when mistakes happen and a wipe is going to take place any way, they are just attacks that ensure the wipe happens). For a decent amount of resisting these attacks, you want 150+ in FR. At 150 FR you will partially resist these attacks most of the time. Any body with 125 FR will have 145 FR with only the druid buff, thats pretty close to the 150 FR we are talking about here.

Awesome, very informative Avesther:) was your CT boss mods broadcasting when the knockbacks were coming? I was so caught up in the moment I didnt actually see anything other than rag's hind end heh. It was a fun try I thought, maybe not to those leet of us that have beaten him but for those of us who never saw him before I think it was pretty cool.

The CTRA-Boss mod was calling the 5 second warning out. I was having too much fun watching the chat mind you. Yes, its sad not taking him down for us who are used to having him on farm status.

On the other hand, watching people type out "This is the best thing I've experienced in WoW", "This is so cool\Awesome" and seeing that you had fun makes it all worthwhile it to me. The first time you see Rag summoned is one of the few awesome experiences in the game. And for us l33t crew, hearing and watching others experience it for the first time is just as great.

Fallen was rushing us a bit because after you defeat Domo, you have two hours to down rag, or Domo will reset. So they were hoping to ride our coat tails into it. In the future we will have more time to set it up and do some real good attempts on him.
