Its crazy being able to change the terrain WHENEVER. No pauseing, no quiting and going to sandbox mode, you can do it during a fight, mid-battle, instantly. Im gonna have to try it out, it looks preety cool. And its Halo-y for you Halo fans

It is actually a pretty old concept and easy to do. Usually companies don't do it because it is sorta hard to control to a degree. The player could literally trap themselves or make an objective unattainable.

Usually ground shape is stored as a height map (think greyscale image where black is the lowest and white is the highest), it is very easy to manipulate that with shaders to create a permutation.

Change the battle field in a FPS in real time.....first time ever?????

Have they never heard of a little game called RED FACTION???!!!!!!!

You could take out the floor, the walls, bridges......

Wasn't 'everything'...it depended on the map...

Way before this one though.....

It's marketing hype. It's a feature that is kinda like Stranglehold's "tequila time" - it sounds great on paper and is kinda cool, but just ends up being repetitive and annoying when you actually play it.

That being said, Fracture looks like somewhat of a cool game. Geometry changing 'grenades' and other devices haven't ever really been used before to an 'n-th' degree - it's usually preset surfaces that shift around. I'll be impressed if it is -every- surface, which might make for some cool game play features. We'll see. I'd like to be able to hit a wall next to someone and it shoot out and throw the enemy across the room, or the same idea with the floor.

Earthbending anyone?

ya, from what you said Cloud, Fracture goes more then that. This is the accual ground. Not walls and bridges and the sorts, the very earth.
