Fraps...

One of my big goals in WoW is to make a world pvp video.

To do so, I need to get fraps, but I can only manage to find the 30-second free version to download.
Do I have spend money to buy the full version, or is there a website i missed that hosts the more-than-30-seconds version of it?

That's the only way to get it Azzie, unless you can get someone to lend you their activation key for the program.

Maybe the FRAPS developers offer their software to groups as well as individuals? If so, and if the group price is fair, then perhaps we could purchase a copy of Tribe of Judah. Other chapters have expressed an interest in recording and editing videos.

EDIT: Here's the form to contact the FRAPS team, in case anyone wants to ask them about a non-profit group license.

that would be awesome, but don't make it a burden for everyone :p

Anyway, about the free version thing...to activate the 30 seconds of recording i just press a button to start and it records 30 seconds. Then in order to record again would i have to minimize WoW and upload the thing, or can I just press the button again right after the 30 seconds is over?

I really don't know how the 30 second trial works. I bought it during my days of filming flight simulator excerpts.

I got my fraps from a friend who no longer uses his copy. I'm also not sure how the free trial version works, I imagine you can record 30 seconds then start it again but I really have no idea.

I looked into this program, and I don't think that they will offfer a goup version or discount for it, but I could be wrong, the program isn't that expensive, its cheaper then WoW was in retail, only $37.00 USD and WoW for me was 50 when I picked it up in Nov 04, so its not that expensive if you think about it.

if I can save multiple 30 second video clips from the free version, im not gonna bother get the whole thing. i'm just gonna get myself a timer that keeps beeping every 30 seconds so i keep my gameplay on a basically constant rate.

what about the watermark and also don't forget, you could miss some action in between...dunno how u'd do it.

Ugh! I tried it out, but I dont think it works with any graphics acceleration, making it useless for WoW. When i press record during gameplay the screen turns black and doesnt come back. I researched why, and it says I have to disable all graphics acceleration :(

Ah, I haven't tested it out myself since my computer can't handle any video recording + wow. Although I do wish to make some movies later on when I get a better computer.

What about stoop's computer?

I just got the free 30 second version, and yes, all I have to do is press a button every 30 seconds and it'll save the file to my desktop.

I've tried it, and it works really well! Problem is, I haven't quiiiiiiiiite gotten the hang of how the program works, so I have 30 second files that are like, 200 megabytes...

But I'll get it figured out soon :p

i got my hands on fraps and its fun...took me a while to edit and stuff will release a nubby video shortly to get my hands wet.
