Just to raise some awareness and allow for questions to the ToJ Fund Raising post, I would like to start an open thread here.
We currently have some 223 active members in the Tribe of Judah. Just to give some perspective on how easy it would be to reach the $2128 goal, each of us would simply have to give $10 each. $10 is skipping a couple of lunches at your favorite fastfood place. It is buying one less CD this year and instead supporting ToJ.
What does this money go towards? It goes to support our Game Server and Web Server. In the last 4+ years we have had 1000 people signup to become members of ToJ. That is 1000 people that we made new friends with. 1000 people we helped sow seeds with. 1000 people we ministered too and prayed for. 1000 people we have fun sharing the games we love with. But to be honest, that is just a small fraction of the gamers out there. Right now alone on Steam there are some 130,000 people playing. So many of them do not know Jesus as their Lord and savior.
We ask for this support so we can further grow this ministry and reach more of those gamers. With your support we can add new games to our list and share our witness to a larger crowd. Counter-Strike has already proven a great tool for us to witness with. Christians and non Christians alike fill the server every night to have fun playing CS with each other. What a great tool for us to show that believing Christ is our Lord and savior still lets us have fun together. What better way to make that first contact with someone. To make friends with them and invite them to participate in the forums, chat with us in IRC or TeamSpeak. Then as they make friends and fellowship, we encourage them to participate in the other services available at CGA like the prayer forums and devotionals.
It is great that we have seen 1000 people join up for ToJ. But lets be honest, those that joined were most likely Christians already. Jesus's great commission was for us to reach the lost and there are a lot of lost souls out there. What a great oportunity God has given us to be a light unto the gaming world. Being a light for Christ is a challenging endeavor. So please pray for ToJ, its leaders, its charge, the other members, that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us and that we will be blessed with support. Then I would like to challenge and encourage every one of our current members. Being a light in the gaming world is a challenge. We will get mocked and told off. But I encourage you in this fact, we have the support of the creator of the heavens and earth. God has our back. He gave us his Holy Spirit just for such an occasion. So be prepared to give testiment to the hope in your heart (1 Pet. 3:15). Share it with your fellow gamers. Just as God has your back, you also have the support of every member in this group and support from the leaders of ToJ. That is a powerful thing.
So that is why we are here. To reach gamers for Christ. Donating to ToJ is not a requirement nor is the $10 a requirement. Instead, "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" 2 Corinthians 9:7. I hope you see the opportunity we have been given and the blessings that God has already given us. So if you have any questions, please fire away.
