Gays should not be able to marry, they should be locked up. They are destroying not only there life, but the life of those who they influence.

We lock up rapists, and pedifiles. Homosexuality is another mental disease that should be treated. We do not embrace annorexia, or any other disorder of the mind. instead we treat them.

So homosexuality should be treated as any other mental disease.

Basicly lock them up untill they admit there disease is wrong and damaging

The sad fact to the whole gay marriage is that this is not a sudden event, it's been a long and steady slide. Just like a sled going down a hill it gets faster the longer it goes. The problem with stopping the gay marriage issue is that we are afraid of attacking the issue and instead we content ourselves to defending. Very few people are willing to stand up and say whats wrong with gay marriage and actually attack the whole thing, because if they do then they automatically get attacked by the liberal media as being unaccepting stubborn religious die-hards. As Christians we can no longer stand around waiting for the issues to come to us...we need to pray that the people supporting these issues would see the truth.

Quote[/b] ]I think it could easily be argued that morality could have evolutionary origins.

And by the same rights, a cold blooded murder then could not be convicted of a crime against the community simply because they evolved differently. How rude!!! They have equal rights and if they feel the need to murder, so be it. Just don't get in their way. Its not their fault they didn't evolve like some of us right? And because their murderous ways are genetic, they can't be held accountable or responsible.

/sarcasm off

it's been around but media thinks it's cool now and inlfuencing our young to think that's it's okay

I don't know if the media is trying to influence people that being gay is 'ok' or 'cool' as much as possibly trying to influence people to realize that gay people are still people and don't need to be dragged behind trucks and beaten like Matthew Shepard

I personally find it wrong, I do however have friends that are gay and as people they are good people regardless of what they do behind closed doors, Yes there are also groups like Kidan mentioned like NAMBLA which are sick and disturbing but that doesn't represent the entire gay community much like the 3-4 kids that beat and killed Matthew Shepard don't represent the entire Christian community ... I'm sure some of you know people that are gay and perhaps don't know that you do =o

Everyone, whether they are practising homosexuals or whatever, needs the love of God shown to them. They need our prayers and understanding. Not their livestyles, but where they come from. Just felt I needed to add that to the discussion.

I'm glad that you were not serious. The problem is, there are "Christians"* who kill homosexuals just because they are gay. So, your statement does fit well with the whole "God Hates Fags" movement.

*In quotes because I realize that they are definitely not showing any love for their fellow man. (Er, no pun intended on that, either.)

Quote[/b] (Gods_Peon @ Nov. 26 2003,1:10)]BigJ,

The governments and courts are succeeding, with small victories, in removing the parents right to bring up their own children as they sit fit.

I have been in a struggle with my sons school over my right to raise my child without their interference.  Without getting into details, I see first hand how fast the institutions that were set up to protect our rights are quickly destroying them to serve some sick, unknown purpose, I am sure.
Hey GP,

Thank you for sharing that.

It was long, yes, but very interesting.

I have heard of the whole SA thing too. It is wrong...and sick. I may disagree with you (and others) on some things, but...I had no idea that Canada was lowering the AOC to 12.

Childhood is indeed short enough without speeding it up with sex.

I know this may come as a shock to everyone, but I do believe that there are a number of things that are wrong...and sex involving young kids is one of them.

Heck, there was a case in San Jose, California some years back involving a Hmong guy who molested his (IIRC) 8 and 12 year old nieces. His defense? Well, in the mountains of Cambodia/Vietnam, it is acceptable to do that. It worked, case dismissed.

Now, there are 2 questions here: First, is it acceptable anywhere? And second, is it acceptable here?

For the first...that is a tough call. I find it very distasteful, but on the other hand, I do not believe that we should stop it. Educate people? Yes. Show them that it is not healthy to do that to young children.

The second is easy. We have laws, and we have decided that such action is wrong. Therefore, something like that is unacceptable.

(Moral reletavism? Sure. But it does cut both ways.)

Anyway, I see one main problem with the whole "God grants us morals" and that is...every society has a prohibition on stealing and murder.

Just my thought on it. Why? Without it, society cannot function.

I will agree completely that there are a number of "parental interference" things that are going on. Some I agree with (like beating your child), others I don't (a lot of the crap in education).

I'm sorry that you are having problems with your child.

If I can be of any assistance...let me know (feel free to PM me if you'd like). Good luck...

Hope everybody in the US had a great Thanksgiving.

I know it's late for everybody in Canada...LOL

I believe that homosexuality is very bad, and Christians should do all they can for the poor people who have been warped and demented by it. My church is helping a guy who used to be gay, and he's gotten up and talked about it and everything.

My Viewpoint.

1) Homosexuality is sin... Period.

2) God tells us to Love ALL people regardless of thier sin... This does not mean that we have to trust them in ALL situations.

3) The gov't should not be involved in 'officializing' marriage. Marriage is a religious institution symbolizing Christ and the Church. The gov't can monitor civil unions for tax purposes....

4) God did not stop people from choosing Sin... I don't feel it's my job either.

5)HOWEVER... I would like to train MY children the way I want too. (including teaching them that Homosexuality is Sin)

In Regards to Civil Unions... This is an issue around survivor benefits, wills, health coverage and taxation. This is what the government should be concerned with. In like thought, a 83 yr old bachlor who has lived in the same house with his unmarried sister all his life... should be allowed to give all his possesions to his sister tax-free.

If this is the issue that the Homosexual crowd is looking to be addressed... then I agree.

IF they are looking for forced recognition and acceptance of thier lifestyle by it being 'officially' recognized...

Nope... I'm not there

now the thing is all those civil benefits that they are whining about (wills, survivor benefits, beneficieraires, visitation rights)  they are allowed to do them.  You can leave everything you own to a cat if you want. you just have to write a will.  I can give power of attorney to anyone I want to in regards to healthcare in case of accident (it's just that since I'm married, it automatically falls onto my wife and I don't have to write it out on a peice of paper).  as far as health coverage.  That's a business concern.  If a owner of a business doesn't want to extend health benefits to a homosexual partner, it's that person's business to do as he will.  likewise the homosexual doesn't have to work for/purchase from that business.  Government already gives health benefits to domestic partners.

now onto TAXES!  it wasn't until here recently (the Bush Tax Cuts) that there wasn't a PENALTY on your taxes for marriage (married deductable was around 1300, while a single deductable was 1000 or something similar).  So there's no tax benefit for getting married. Even today, with the Bush tax cuts in effect, the married deductable is just twice the single deductable.

so the ISSUES that people are talking about aren't really a point.  They just want recogniganse of their sin.  They want to be told that this union is proper and right.

on a side note, the Defense of Marriage Act did away with the full-faith-and-credit obligations in the matter of same-sex marriages, so just because one state recognizes same sex marriages does not mean that all states have to.

What a disturbing little thread this is - when last I was here there would have been a flood of people castigating the "Queerhaters" for their lack of tolerance. Instead of which A-Town is criticised for the "nuking" comment - but NOT for the creation of Gulags for those with different lifestyles.

Peon, as usual you make a capital argument in favour of the seperation of Church and state. Why, by your reasoning I would be a criminal for breaching several of your Gods commandment - as would the majority of the inhabitants of both our countries. Your right to swing your fist ends at my nose - otherwise I would be free to go out and enact all the old rites of MY faith.

Civilisation is, in essence, a MODERATION of extreme beliefs. In order to physically fit more human beings into a smaller space, and bring about all the benefits of specialisation and co-operation, you have to agree to disagree on certain principles and strongly held beliefs. As cities grow and populations become more transient the more our beliefs must become a matter of personal choice - because Law can only cover those morals that are commonly held without becoming oppression. And history abhors oppressive and isolationist peoples, they quickly disappear and are overrun by permissive and inclusionary societies.

It is only by a continuing process of cooperation and compromise that society will continue to work - your arguments simply lead to war and annihilation, whether that is your purpose or not.

Quote[/b] ]another thing to ponder is should they adopt kids? That's scary...
YES!
A familly is a familly whether it be homosexual or heterosexual .
I think it should be an amendment not to ban gay marriage,
but state that EVERY PERSON has the right to be married(not 'civil unions, those are just names marriage is marriage wether it be a homosexual one or not)

not really since the state lets the church ordain all marriages. its not really a marriage until it is performed by a minister of some church, when you have the marriage lisence you have a civil union, which gives you all the perks of being married, just it is not church sanctioned.

spryo--NO!

a homosexual household is damaging to children, the same as single parent and divorced households are damaging to children.

I think it should be an amendment to ban gay marriages
