Oh that must be those christians who had a sense of humour removal upon conversion..

This kinda thing has been happening ever since Noddy and Big Ears. (you had that in the usa?)

Just teasing; only teasing!  I was wanting to try some of Mr. Bill's fried cookies!

Here is a link to the site.  We Are Family Foundation - video clip

I too, respect Dr. Dobson in many aspects.  I think this is a case of the news media blowing things out of proportion.  It has not been said that the characters have a bad influence in and of themselves, or that thre is anything wrong twith the video itself, but that the characters being used are possibly being exploited.  (I cannot believe I just said that!):)  The only thing under attack is the We Are Family Foundation's tolerance policy.

Personally, I love the message of WFF.  I do understand the concern of Dr. Dobson, this video is being taken into the public school system and he does not want homosexuality glorified.  There is a fine line, for what I see as the video's purpose and the WFF as a whole, is that they are carrying out a message with Biblical implications.  I see their message as loving and accepting others.  I think the Bible is very clear about loving the sinner and hating the sin.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love.  I John 4:7&8

Spongebob is most definitely not gay, un KAY?

However, I have wondered what is in those crabby patties!  I love you, you love me, we're a happy family, with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too?

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heared! I mean SpongeBob rules and there isn't a single thing gay about him.
These are the kind of people who think StarWars, X-Men, Harry Potter, and any Disney Movie with a witcch in them is evil! I'm 16 years old and I still watch SpongeBob so the people that think Mr. Pants is gay... there just CRAZY!!!

Does it matter if he is gay, I know he isn't but come on.
I know I'm a minority on this site with my views, but at one time everyone thought black people were lesser than white. In 20 years will it matter if your gay or straight.

That would be a cool micheal jackson song in 20 years "It don't matter if your gay or straight".

I should hope so. Race is not a matter a choice. Sexual preference is. I am not sure if Mr. Jackson is the ideal role model either (present court battle, not withstanding).

We, as Christians, are not supposed to be tolerant. Yes, love the sinner, hate the sin, but being tolerant of the sin is not a part of Christian docrtrine. That would lead to dilution of the Truth. I would prefer role models that supported my beliefs instead of those who seek to undermine it.

Well, I am speechless. (sorta)

We tried being tolerant. Only to have it thrown back in our face when we would not change our views. We have faced the true definition of marriage being re-written.

We tried to be tolerant of things taught in school, only to have Christianity replaced with Islam.

We tried to be tolerant of others not wanting to follow God only to have an ordained minister of a non-religion try to force his non religion on us.

So, with all that being said, please justify your statement.

I would love to see some role models who reflect my values receive the same positive mainstream media attention.

Wow...

Quote[/b] ]"Their inclusion of the reference to 'sexual identity" within their 'tolerance pledge' is not only unnecessary, but it crosses a moral line," James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in a statement released Thursday.

I'm mentioned! I so proud...

Sorry, I've been desperate to say that...

:rolls eyes:

This is so stupid, I'm speechless.

Spongebob is a dumb obnoxious cartoon character. He is not "promoting" homosexuality, or tolerance to the PRACTICE of homosexuality. This video is supporting tolerance of people who are another race/"sexual preference"/religion, etc.. Christians already do that (unless you go out and routinely beat up homosexuals and Muslims).

Don't forget the fact of Mr. Jackson's credibility for us now being tarnished based on his decision to join the Nation of Islam.

I don't think secular television shows and christian beliefs should be intertwined. However, when you think of the time you do spend with God, and then the time spent on the couch watching a television show, couldn't you possibly be using your time better by reading the Bible? Or doing something more constructive rather than "handling everything with God in the morning" and thinking of your late nights as "your time to relax."

I don't know, I really need to do something about this with myself too, too many times do I waste time sitting around and not spending time with God when He would be so much more of a better choice than "Spongebob Squarepants."

God Bless.

While it is true that there is a fine line between promoting tolerance towards people of homosexual orientation and promoting homosexual orientation, I certainly do not feel that this video crosses it. But some of you say that it is not in the Christian doctrine to be tolerant--I assume you mean to say that you cannot be tolerant towards the sin itself, yes? Love the sinner, hate the sin as they say. In this case, to me at least, it seems clear that the video is trying merely to promote more positive relationships between minority groups and the majority...which is why I find it ridiculous that some Christian groups have protested so vehemently.

I agree with mr. Bill, he's a wise man. The video didn't have anything to do with homosexuality, I think I heard on the news people were upset they were holding hands. I find it alittle weird how in india guys who are friends hug and put their arms on another guys shoulder and there's nothing sexual about it, but if u do it in north america people would automatically think your gay. I think people should just lightin up.

And gen I don't think people have a choice if their gay or not.

And u do have a great christian role model he's your president.
So leave sponge bob alone and go back after harry potter he's a witch.

(sry for the sarcasm)

I will respect a person regardless of their sexual orientation. I will not respect a person's choice of sexual orientation if they are a homosexual. See the distinction? I will always respect a person but I will not always respect a person's decisions.

Therefore I don't have a problem with that pledge, although personally I wouldn't take the pledge. I have a problem with the public school system not being tolerant of my religion, and then forcing me to take a pledge of tolerance. That, however, is another topic for another day.

Alarms are being set off in the ears of many christian conservatives when they hear that homosexuality is being included in a general tolerance campaign, but that is mainly because it hasn't been included before.  Which, of course, makes sense, as the country has only recently (relatively speaking) recognized homosexuals as a legitimate minority group.  Are these alarm bells ringing also legitimately founded?  It is certainly not inconceivable, for as I said before, it is a fine line between promoting homosexuality and tolerance for homosexuals.  But here, it is my belief that the line is not crossed; the video's goal is merely to promote more friendly relationships between people of different sorts.  Homosexuals are not traditionally represented in such efforts, but why should they remain that way?  It is an undeniable fact that homosexuals are descriminated upon by society at large.  I do not believe that Christianity condones such behavior; they, rather, condone what they believe to be the sin itself, not the person commiting it.  Thus I feel that the We Are Family movement is within its moral boundaries, and the inclusion of homosexuals acceptable and necessary.

EDIT: Hescomin, studies actually have shown that homosexuality is much more likely to be a combination of both nature and nurture. But still so much is unknown about the causes of homosexuality, so no definitive claim can be made.
