That is just SICK!!!! +187 damage, combined with the +damage of just using the warlock Tier 2 set, plus a Locks Rank 2 Fel Armor increasing spell damage by up to 100. Completely....utterly....SICK! The person who you buy it from, I have zero clue on where he is. I just found the pictures on the WoW Myspace forums. It was posted from an Undead, so I don't know if the name of the person you buy it from is the same. I'm assuming it is a PvP item because it wasn't listed with a selling price of gold. It almost looked like tokens. It had a listing price of 3750. So 3750 tokens maybe?

Anywho. Enjoy the stats. I'll be drooling for days. lol.

Have a great day everyone,

Chris

It looks like it's a PVP reward... the tokens are honor points, I believe. it may also have a cost associated with it in the form of marks of honor from a specific battle ground.

PVP rewards items are available in SW, in the old "officers barracks" in Old Towne.

Gladiator stuff is all Arena rewards.

---------- Arena Rewards -----------

From all indications thus far, the Arena rewards will be cream of the crop & fill out the slots for those focused on PvP. Apparently this stuff is all available out in Netherstorm, which is currently unavailable to beta testers.

EDIT: See Distress' post below for much more info on Arena.

In general, it appears that the Arena rewards are all named "Gladiator" in some form.

Chest, Legs, Head, H&s & Shoulder pieces available: http://www.thottbot.com/beta?f=a&name=gladiator&minl=100

I don't understand why everything coming out is for PvP people. This is really kind of annoying. Not everyone wants to PvP. Why is everything in the game being directed towards this type of play style? Any clue?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy PvPing from time to time. However I don't like to feel forced to do one thing or another just to have great weapons/armor.

It's not exactly an easy thing to accomplish, either. It will require time and effort to get that staff.

Blizzard does want to sympathize with the casual gamer. We can all see how they're doing that in TBC. But - at least in my opinion - they also have to respect and reward those who put in the time and effort in other areas of the game.

It's been clarified before that the best PvP rewards are to be expected to be on par or just a bit under par the best PvE rewards in the game. Quite honestly, professional hardcore PvPers get stuff like this while professional hardcore PvEers get stuff like Tier 4 and 5.

I can't read minds, but in allowing weapons like this to be introduced, I believe that Blizzard is simply trying to legitimize PvP as another way to play the game - and that's what it's about. Different players enjoy different styles of play, and the makers of the game want to ensure that things are balanced.

I honestly applaud blizz for allowing more than one avenue to greatness.

Now, I wish they'd allow you to do the same thing with professions... say making huge, powerful items that require tonnes of farming and pretty much all the professions to create... but that are on par with tier 4 & 5.

But, maybe that's just me.

I thought that staff was pretty neat (and I guess it is) but when I logged on to the beta yesterday three 70 casters around me all had 1h daggers/swords with around +170 spell damage. They were blue and at least one was a quest reward because there was no item use level on it.

In Karazhan you can get these drops:

Staff of Infinite Mysteries (Staff)
+55 Stam
+46 Int
+18 Spell Hit
+159 Spell Dmg

Jewel of Infinite Possibilities (Off Hand)
+16 Stam
+16 Int
+19 Spell Hit
+21 Spell Damage

Nathrezim Mindblade (Dagger)
+15 Stam
+15 Int
+21 Spell Crit
+178 Spell Dmg

So will the offhand and the dagger you get
+31 Stam
+31 Int
+199 Spell Dmg
+21 Spell Crit
+19 Spell Hit

I'm OK with that. It won't be easy to get (Karazhan = t3h uber hard) but there is no need to feel like you *must* PvP in order to get great gear.

Karazhan is a giant castle/mansion type place. There are living quaters, kitchens, bedrooms, libraries, etc. There is also the opera hall. It's a large theater where you have to "perform" on stage for a boss battle in front of an audience of ghosts. There are three (I think it's three) different boss battles that revolve around different plays. There is Romeo and Juliet, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Wizard of Oz. In Oz for example, you have to fight the lion (he is fearable since he has no courage), Dorothy, the Tin man (use frost spells to get him to rust), etc. They battles look really fun and interesting. This is probably the "silliest" encounter in the game, but from watching the videos it is extremely difficult.
