Go Canada

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world.

So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to
Orlando, thinking that he would start by working his way across the USA from South to North.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read "$10,000 per call".

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for.

The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God.

The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it.

He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was.

She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God.

"O.K., thank you," said the American.

He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston and New York.

In every church he saw the same golden telephone
with the same "$10,000 per call" sign under it.

The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel to up to Canada to see if Canadians had the same phone.

He arrived in Canada, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read "40 cents per call."

The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. "Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call.

Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered, "You're in Canada now, son - it's a local call".

The attic is where you find all the hidden treasures.....

Canada is a lot like an attic. Every time you go up there you say look at all this junk.

IT FELT AS IF THE TEXT WAS YELLING AT ME BECAUSE IT'S SOO BIG!

Canada is the US's attic. We throw all sorts of junk and stuff we don't need up there. No treasure there =p Moving on.

LOL hmm Canada is beginning to look like a playground Goblit and Avesther are hording to themselves lets all go play there

Well, the Canadian half of glacier park was nice, so was Lake of the Woods and the Butchart Gardens.

On the other hand, Canada (at least the Vancouver area) is plagued by drug abuse which the government has legalized, and you can't say anything bad about certain deviant lifestyles.

Overall, not a bad place, though if you looking to get geographically close to God, I'd say you'd generally be better served by the Colorado Rockies.

Don't worry, Canada will melt in time.

Beware there navy though!

They legalized drugs?????Where???

I had thought everywhere, but it might just've been in British Columbia or Vancouver. I believe they only legalized the use of drugs, not the sale of them, but it goes on anyway.

I went on a mission trip there last year, seemed like you couldn't go anywhere without smelling someone smoking marijuana or seeing pro drug posters.

If you want to see it yourself look in downtown Vancouver for Oppenheimer park, just a few blocks east of the Gastown Steamclock. That whole section of town is full of junkies. The government, by all apearences, simply contains them to that area rather then actually dealing with the problem, at least, dealing with it beyond passing out free sterile needles to stem the spread of STDs. If you want to make the trip especially exciting, get out your rattiest clothes and pretend you're a bum, that's what we did, with some interesting results. Some of our guys even got a guy to show them around and offer to sell them the "good stuff".

Edit: For your veiwing pleasure, here is a picture of downtown Vancouver that shows the locations I mentioned

The white line is my rough estimate of the invisible line which divides the seedy side of dowtown from the nice side. To the west it's plenty nice, but to the east it's pretty ugly

You might take a look at the "bad part of town" in any city anywhere. You won't find LESS drug abuse in places where medical marijuana is illegal.

Yes, the sale of medical marijuana is legal, and quite honestly, arresting people for posession of the drug has never been shown to reduce its use so lifting consequences for posession is unlikely to have the opposite effect.

Of course you'll see a small rise in visibility right after the law is enacted, but in other countries like Portugal, the UK, Switzerland that have legalized posession and countries like Mexico that do not enforce laws against posession of small amounts, the greatly feared increase in use has not been observed.
