HAving PrOblems with my pC

1. I cant download Counter-Strike: Source Mega-Pack Movie from Fileplanet. IT gets stuck at 4 hours and 11 minutes at the beginning!?  when that occurs, my cable modem goes dead and an error pops up saying something about sending to microsoft.com

I've tried HappyPuppy.com(nothing!), GameSpot.com(I have to sign up for a fee), gamershell.com(not the right file), shacknews.com, filefront.com, hl2.gamigo.de, playground.ru(I cant read russian!), videogamernews.com(not the right link). ANd its making me paranoid. Snap, Crack, Pop, goes my neck!

2.Downloaded Windows Security Alert which im sure I shouldnt of done that. It warns me even just the littlest things for a 'possible virus/worm/bug'. I went to install Direct x 9.0c, the Windows Security Alert warns me about opening that, but right after it crash it.

3.I have 2 cd-roms, Dvd and Cd-rw. Cd-rw rom buzzes like wasp in a honey comb and will not load anything thats in it, except for burning cds.[edit]has a wind sound like in those movies, "pssshhhhhh", the half-life door sound, when u touch the door, u hear, "pssshhhhhhh" and the door opens except its on my cd-rw.???

4.I'm still looking for Counter Strike: Source mega Pack movie.........................

Hmm, your CD drive sounds like it's a hardware problem. Some hair or trash may be stuck in it. Just open it up and blow in it.

You may have a bug or a virus, but go to Microsoft/Windows Update and download the patch, if you haven't already. You can download a trial version of McAfee or Norton antivirus programs as a trial - do that and run it; see if it picks up anything. Also, make sure you have plenty of room on your computer for installing CS:Source with about a gig left over.

Also, sometimes the downloader itself is what's causing the problem - bittorrent I've been told likes to disconnect at odd times. If a lot of people are dling anything then it can put the server/downloader under stress, so you may want to wait a while, a week or less, before you start it.

As a very last resort I suggest scan disk, defragging, and then closing all open programs (even taskbar programs such as messengers, and uh, any of the other stuff that goes down there) although I doubt these will make much of a difference.

1. Cable is essentially a fast 56k modem, more than one person using the lines, causing a slow. Try doing it late night/early morning, and dont use windows explorer, it just sucks for... everything. Get firefox or opera. No popups, and its never crashed or frozen on me, and ive used it for about a year now.

2. your right, you shouldnt have ;p

3.reinstall the drivers for your drive, usually helps me. if not, odds are the laser is out of alignment (happened to me before) which pretty much means it needs to be replaced, because its about as expensive to fix as it is to get a new one. hope you got a warrenty...

4. well, dunno what to do here, aside to tell ya, quit playing CS man, its not that great ;p

Another possibility could be spyware.  I've had spyware do some really wierd things to my computers, affect my hardware, graphics, and internet.  Try download.com and do a search for "lavasoft" and download adaware 6.0 SE and run that.  I use that all the time, it picks up most of the spyware and its free.  If there is spyware, there could be a spyware program that is messing with the internet.  I usually run 45-50 system processes and an extra spyware process slowed me down a lot.

While its a possibility, i doubt spyware would be responsible for CD RW troubles, the only thing ive ever seen or heard of an external program(from the os) doing to a cd drive is opening and closing the bay. Spyware will slow down your net considerably, but, like i said before, cable is a line(s) used by many people. The more people using your isp on the net, the slower your gonna be. DSL, on the other hand, is YOUR line, no one else can use it. Slowdowns occur on dsl due to problems connecting with the isp(for the most part)

My video card is 64MB and its called, Unichrome.
This video card is sooooo bad, I still lag on Software mode on CS.

Plus when I hold more than 2 keys, keyboard and mouse jams up, and I become a perfect head-shot target.

For your information, I can only play Counter-Strike once - twice a week/month cause I always get problems; keyboard jam, mouse jam, computer crashes, CS crashes. So I can mostly play Starcraft, period.

I am currently using firefox, thanks to raistlin, which it seems I have to update it as well...

Oh, my virus scanner found 4 trojan viruses in my java program, how lame is that, when I had to install java for various websites.
