HDTV anyone?

My next T.V. is definately a High Definition ready set. The largest pull for me is that CBC, TSN & Sportsnet all have certain sporting events broadcast right now in HD. Mmmmmmm, stanley cup playoffs in HD!! Don't forget CSI, West Wing, Friends, etc...but I'm in it for the sports.

I don't know if they do it in Canada but in Minnesota the Discovery Channel is in HD, which rocks for some of the shows they have. But the real reason I would go HD is mainly for DVD's. Get myself a wide aspect HDTV and behold its glory, I already have a 5.1 surround stereo, the TV would just sweeten the pot.

Problem being Steel that a 16:9 T.V. will still be stuck with bars on top and bottom for DVD's cuz of the aspect ratio alot of directors are using (2.35:1).

Beyond that, the new 1080i signals that the upper model Hitachis and Sony Grand Wegas receive means it is about 4x the resolution of DVD's!! SWEETAH!!
