Ok,

My computer DIED. It is way dead. It might not live again.

My kids did get a new computer for Christmas. But, I cannot use it all the time. I am loading WoW. But, I do not know what will happen.
 
Loaded WoW on my kids new computer.

Discovered it has only 32meg video card and wow needs 64......

Curses his parents for buying a cheap machine.
 
Actually, my father had it built.

The video card is a shared memory on board card.

So, it shares the computers memory and the video card is actually mounted on the mother board.

Great for company machines that don't do much. Bad for gaming....

Hey! I use an eMachine and it works just fine! Of course I did add a new gpu and some extra memory. Still, if you're looking for a brand to knock, knock Gateway, 'cus their computers are trash. I know of multiple people who have use Gateway, and none of them have had good experiences.
 
funny thing about computers.

everyone builds some bad ones.

There are so many different things that can mess them up.

If you want a good one, do your research and build your own.
 
if the systems video is sharing the memory with the rest of the system you can go into the BIOS (depending on the machine you would normaly have to press the DEL or F1 or F2 key) and in there you should be able to turn up the video memory, yes the over all system might not have as much memory, but you can try it, either that or go get a different video card (that is what I had to do when my high end card went out ATI 9800XT so I got a cheap (for now) Nvidea G-Force FX 5500 card that has 128m and 8x AGP and it was around $80) so this is just some ideas that can help that system get by as an emergency WoW back up machine

Ermm, you do know that eMachines is a sub division of Gateway right?

As far as turning up shared video memory that might not even be possible if it's something that cheap. That's interesting how you say it's "mounted" to the mother board. I want more information and mabe a picture.:)

Oh, and I don't build bad computers, mine all rock.;)

Really? *Looks it up* *smacks forehead* Doh! You're right! Wow I never would've gotten an eMachine if I knew it was really a Gateway in disguise. Weird that I've seen less problems with their subdivision computers than with their main line. Bad, bad, evil Gateway! How dare you pull a fast one like that on me!
 
I built my computer and you can do it for less than $600.

100 - processor
100 - mobo
100 - video card
50 - sound card (optional)
100 - ram
50 - case
$$$ - somthing i forgot.

You can reuse the monitor, keyboard and mouse if youd like.

and like maybe a hard drive and cd rom?

That would be $600 more than I have right now...

My kids like to eat... a small problem, but I am working on it.

You can re-use the cd-rom and HD if youve been using a desktop, but youve been using a laptop right?

Well now i know thats where youve been.

Well I use an IBM keyboard from my 486 and a 15" Compaq monitor from like '95.
