Roger that Whon. But, I didn't have 100 FPS until I got my new P4...CPU speed does make a huge difference.

k.. a question.. what on earth is vsync, wat does it do and how can i control that..

my monitor is *LCD TFT*17in View Sonic VG700 and Vid Card: ATI Radeon 9000 Pro

I use to always go with D3D untill i tried out OpenGL it gave me slightly longer load times but fps are about 10-15 higher and tiny better ping.

I use OpenGl, but i would use d3d if i had some better drivers. btw Vsync is a feature of a video card that limits its fps to the monitors refresh. This makes the video not use all its power on fps, and can do other things faster like anti-aliasing.

with my gf2 i find that d3d causes real problems so i use opengl which still has its share of issues.

Hopefully this will be rectified with my new radeon 9800 pro

Almost all Radeon has Open Gl and D3D support with no problem. Joelius and I have 8500 and 9000, and we don't get any problesm except the refreshrate, but im sure your new Radeon 9800 will pay off real good. However, theres Radeon 10000 coming soon, so which ever you want it'll both pay off real good

VSYNC = Vertical Sync:

"VSYNC is a term used to describe how a graphics board renders and displays an image to the display. With VSYNC On, the graphics board draws one frame of a scene, and waits for the monitor to display it before starting the next frame. "

"With VSYNC Off, the board draws one frame, and then immediately starts on the next frame - whether the display is ready for it or not. "
