CGA & ToJ President
I am currently researching whether or not I should move the Christian Gamers Alliance web site and forums to a new web host. I would like everyone to vote honestly and suggest other possible web hosts for the upcoming year.

Should I decide to stick with phpwebhosting.com, I will be announcing a monthly forum sponsor program for the year 2004. Basically, members who donate approximately $11 to the Christian Gamers Alliance will be named the forum sponsor for a month during 2004 and will receive a custom forum title. I will be announcing further information on that program when I settle on a web host for 2004.

Also, if you have a few spare minutes, please post a short blurb about your overall experience with the speed and uptime of the Christian Gamers Alliance web site and forums. All input is valuable.

I have had very few problems. Once or twice, it has been slow or non-existant. I have not experienced anymore problems here then I have elsewhere.

Wow. Just took a look at PowWeb's hosting plan. That's going to be tough to beat. I would need to check our monthly transfer and see if it's anywhere near 65GB (phpwebhosting features unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space, which is why I originally chose them).

Oh, oh, and check this out:

Keep posting those suggestions!

I've never noticed any slowness. There was that one time that it went down...but other that that we're pretty good.

My website is hosted on Powweb also, and I must say that I am pleased with the company.

Dont trust the 99.7 downtime, though. Sometimes it can get rough, because you've got a memory hog on the server, or your FTP server goes down, etc.

Now is that a 99.7% uptime guarantee? Because if it is, then we can hold their feet to the fire and get free hosting for a month (or some such other refund) if they don't hold up to their promise.

Well, Tek, it is a guarantee. Most people, myself included, think the 99.7% guarantee is BS...my site's uptime is less than 99.7% since it has been up, and I have never gotten a refund or anything.

Otherwise, powweb is a great host, and I would consider moving to them for the CGA website this year. Of course, it is up to you.

Remember to let me know if/when you want the Powweb, that way I can set the website up on it, etc.

99.7 out of 365 days a year is about 3 days down..how often has your site been down Tom? I realize you're on a different server than ProGress

Usually little things like the MySQL server has gone down for a few hours. A few days ago OPS and Mail went offline for a better chunk of that day.
