How's your summer going?

Just wondering how everybody's summer is going?

Totally unrelated to UT of course, but thought I'd just start a conversation to get to know people a little better.

Things have been going well up in the "great green hot north" of Toronto. Work is work. For those who don't know, I'm a web developer, and I'm currently working on a flash microsite for the National Ballet of Canada. Lots of fun, they're a great client to work for.

Elsewhere, been doing a bit of traveling - just got back a week ago from a trip to England, was visiting friends over in London and checking out the sights around the country-side, like Oxford University and Stonehenge. Bloody expensive country to visit though, the exchange rate kills ya. :P (And please, no jokes about Canadian money, we're almost on par with you guys now ;)

So how about the rest of you?

Things have been going good here in Michigan as well. I live near Grand Rapids. I too just got back from vacation. I spent a week in Mackinaw City, at the northern tip of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Beautifull weather and scenery there. went to Mackinac Island and Tahquamenon Falls & such and did a bit of hiking and sight seeing, not that most of you probably have a clue as to where those places are, but if your ever on vacation in Michigan, those are great places to visit.

I am a Tool & Die Maker by trade. I design and simulate sheet metal stamping dies. Not the best business to be in these days with all of the foreign competition, but the Lord has been gracious and has kept me working while many are laid off, a lot of them permanently.

I've been looking forward to you getting that onslaught throwdown going Shagz ;)

I miss making jokes about the Canadian dollar-American dollar exchange rates. :(

My summer's mostly involved getting ready to move this month. I've only been to the pool a couple of times and haven't done much outdoors. There have been a few times when it's taken all the willpower I can muster not to leave work during lunch, go home, change into swimming trunks, and jump into the apartment pool.

Other than that, summer's been pretty dull. Busy, but dull.

It's been a rough summer for me with the Mrs. and all.
I've been at war with deer (eating flowers) and dogs and cats (messing in there) getting into my wife's flower garden. I think I'm slowly winning for now.
And now we've got a bear here locally that's eating dogs. My Sister's dog and my Uncle's dog so far have turned up malled to near death, ripped open and flies and maggots all over them and had to be put down. Our home border national forest so we get all kinds of critters. :)

I went to Virgin Festival last weekend and had a good time. Other than that I haven't been doing a whole lot of traveling or anything. Up until recently I worked as a night-shift information desk attendant at university, but it was a temporary summer job and they've got the regular people working again. Nothing really left to do now except buy books and get my stuff packed to move back into the dorms.
