I am posting this from an iPhone!

Its very cool. Everything is easy to use. The keyboard is surprisingly easy to use. I'm typing this with two fingers at maybe 30 words per minute. Everything else is smooth and slick. I'd get one but I don't have 600 bucks to spare!

That's pretty snazzy. Were you at an Apple Store, stop by an AT&T Store, use a friend's iPhone, or what? :D

I am gonna get one with my friend's "friends and family" discount. She has one and I constantly ogle it. At first I didn't want one, but now maybe six times a day I think to myself "if only I had an iPhone, I would know this by now." Constantly having the internet in one's pants is a very powerful tool.

I debating getting one for awhile but decided I might as well wait as I don't want to be spoiled. They actually have hacked it such that you can get http via a SOCKS proxy over bluetooth

$600 USD for a phone does not compute.

I am glad that Apple raised the standard for mobile technology, though. Perhaps another company will come out with something comparable within the next year or two at half the price.

In the meantime, my phone lets me do four very important things:
  1. Play Tetris
  2. Use a Bluetooth headset
  3. Dial by voice command
  4. Talk to people
That's right, I said it. I use a cell phone to talk to people.

Hmm, I let mine die half the time and pretty much only talk to people who call me. I hate my cellular leash.

You can say that again. Luckily, rumors suggest a cheaper iPhone soon. Plus, the RAZR used to be $400 or so, and now they can't give them away. The same will happen to the iPhone, it's just a matter of time.

so you can browse via it say on a laptop.

Hate to be the buzz kill here, but AT&T, Verizion...sprint.....they know people do this. There's software for just about every such device, and well.....the thing is capable without a hack. Anyway back to the point.....they limit usage of this. They can tell when you've hooked it up , and limit the bandwidth.

Actually they do that with a nice 50+ buck a month fee. The iphone gets unlimited data for like 20 bucks a month (on top of existing plans). Besides why should you pay for a data plan on your lappy when the phone gets it anyway.

That $20 data plan for the ipone...is just for the iphone. You can teather it to your laptop for that price.....it'll be slower then dial-up.

My Q hooks up great. Even a Treo 700..... 3m internet connection. Least that's what one of those silly balloons say....but try and open IE or whatever....you can't. Almost a minute to display a web page.

It used to be all open. Nothing like GW on a long car trip.

is it actually pretty good? I would love the see the life span on one of those... like... if the buttons get worn out... or if the motion sense.... or.... something along those lines... I am fascinated by the iPhone... hopefully all phones will be like that in a couple years.

Always wait 6 months to a year. Never buy some thing like that as a first release. You don't want to be someone test rat do you?

Plus, it's really going to matter just how nice apple is with the patents, as to what happens to cell phones. It wasn't until Blackberry's keyboard design patent ran out that you saw more qwerty based phones.....so we'll see about touch screens and the like.

Thing is, what if we don't want to use AT&T? HMMM?

There is a hack that unlocks it. So you can use it for music, movies, and internet.....but only via wifi. You can't make phone calls and what not with it.

Just have to wait...soon they will be giving them away with any carrier.

How did you post from an iPhone when just said you may get one, you don't actually own it?
