I just reformatted my Hard Drive, AGAIN!

Installed Windows XP Pro 64 and the only benefit I got is:

Six thousand, one hundred and fourty two Megabytes of RAM.

Everything else, In-Compatible!.

Nothing was detectable; USB, Ethernet, Video Card, Keyboard and Mouse!

Very agraviting and annoying.

And even worse, I need the internet in order to update all my In-Compatible hardware/software. :(

Oh man, the Windows Updates, and SP2, IF IT WORKS!

Usually the motherboard will ship with a CD containing drivers. If your lucky windows will accept them and you can continue from there.

I warned you about your configuration corp BEFORE you built it....I distincly remember telling you about issues you would have running 6 gigs of ram in a 32 bit system...along with the i7's triple channel requirement..among others.

Folks i don't just pull things out of my nether regions..i research them before i talk about them. I'm not perfect..but i also have nearly 20 years experience in this field.

No one has said you don't help HCS. :)

If you are going to run 32bit Corp, just take out half your ram.

What OS were you running?

just not sure why this is a surprise? 64 bit support isn't particularly great in xp as far as drivers go...vista / win7 are a large step up, but yes...you can expect to need to download drivers.

rule #1: download drivers beforehand, or at the very least, for your ethernet card. once you do...burn them on a disc and keep it attached to the computer it belongs to.

I feel your pain, I reinstall systems as part of my job and drivers are always such a headache. However, I recently reinstalled with win7 64bit and it found 100% of my drivers, both on a 2 year old Sony laptop and a 1 year old HP desktop. It was so wonderful to not have to search vendor sites for any drivers...<3 win7

There. DONE

For far, SP2 works, FINALLY got FRAPS to record SOUND and NOW it works on Starcraft/Broodwar. -_-

Odale, I was running Windows XP 32 SP3 with 2GB X 3 (6GB Total).

I could of used 2GB x 1 but its not following Hescominsoon recommendation.

So, right now, its FINE!

Using 6GB of DDR3 on a i7 Core with Win XP Pro 64 SP2.

Internet sucks though, hahahaha...

Lame voip and 10Mbps. (Wired)

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.cgalliance.org.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

That has shown more than 3 times and just pressing the Edit button.

Then it says I'm not allow to diplicate my post. LOL

Having the extra modules doesn't really hurt performance. When I went from 2x2GB to 4x2GB my memory performance went up (from 5.9 to 7.3 on the performance index).

That said linux can address up to 64GB of ram in 32bit, as well as some versions of windows server. It is always fun to try and figure out if you can actually do what you need with a windows license, as you often times run headfirst into it (like not being able to install IIS for testing, joining a domain, etc).

however, fraps, starcraft, sfIV, and everythign else relatively important to corp.foxes general computing wouldt work as it should in linux and he would hten spend the next 6mo learning terminal commands to test and see if wine will work. we know linux is good man but it only fills so many needs before u have to move to a windows based system.

Being appreciative towards a Microsoft product has to be against the TOS for the forums... it must be somewhere!

??? My total time restoring EVERYTHING is roughly an hour...installing many games and programs...at least 100GBs worth in software...And I have to thank Windows 7 for this :)

so we agree then...15min < 1 hour. thanks :)

not to mention, all of your preferences and settings are persisted through an image as well...not just software installation
