Well... I got the flu...

I dunno if its the swine one or not (would cost $250 to find out).

I don't feel bad at all though!

Oh well.

well don't PM me if you are still contagious ok? I can't afford the flu right now.

Ohh and sorry to hear that bro. :(

Did you take flu shots this year? (I never do myself)

Health care fail. Charging people large sums to clarify if they are in in need of even more expensive life saving medical treatment. Will be praying.

The H1N1 flu really is no different than the normal flu in most ways. The only reason you would need different medical treatment is if you are part of a high risk group. If you'd like more information about the H1N1 cause, onset, treatment, risk groups, etc... please visit the CDC H1N1 website.

If you're not high risk Odale, I wouldn't worry about wasting the money to find out what strain it is... because it just doesn't matter. Just stay home and recuperate.

The seasonal flu shot does not include a vaccination to the H1N1 strain. It probably will next year, though. The flu shot is made to take out the most common strains of the influenza virus from last year. The shots for the H1N1 aren't available yet, even to the very high risk groups (kids, elderly, risk groups, medical professionals).

Side note about the shots. They don't contain every possible known flu strain, just the most common and most likely ones. So if you get the flu after a flu shot, you've gotten a different strain. Many people say that they got the flu because of the shot... but this is NOT possible. The shot contains dead virus matter, just enough to cause immunity to that strain. But a dead virus cell will not start regenerating just because it's been injected into a live host. If you get a flu shot and still get sick...you were going to get sick anyway. Otherwise, we'd see an outbreak of mumps, measles, rubella, typhoid, and a host of other illnesses after we vaccinate our children....who have no base immunity to these illnesses.

yeah basically if it lasts2-3 days, its the swine flu, and you can spread it to others upto 8 days of contracting it. I'm at WSU where they are not even testing for it anymore because they just assume you have the swine since its so widespread. I'm getting over it myself and it wasnt that bad. really threw off my weekend and im skipping church to make sure im not around old people or kids. I'm also considered high risk due to my own past of serious illnesses and because both my parents have had cancer, and even then the docs told me to stay home, get fluids, and chill.

been praying for you though dude and i hope to hear that your getting better

I am all well now, thanks ya'll!

It's peak for me was Tuesday night when my fever was 103.6, but it always went down from there.

I'm still watching what I eat and not trying to over extend myself, but all in all it wasn't that bad.

Edit:

Since I missed a week of school, I also missed a week of assignments... lol :(

I have 6 major assignments due w/in the next week - 4 tests, a 15 minute presentation for a general education art class (what gives lady!?!) and 2 quizzes (one of which could be tomorrow or any other time this week...).

Ya'll can continue to pray for me if you'd like... :)
