Honestly this is the first time I have ever asked anyone to pray for me. I have no idea why just never have. But when I was more active in the guild I always found you guys to be a source of encouragement and a much needed respite from the rest of the people in the world. And since I beleive God has provided all of you for the betterment of my spiritual life I would like you to pray for me that I might be able to find a new job or a better more uplifting way to deal with the one I have.

A little background; I work for Head Start, we provide kindergarden and preschool for underpriviliged and needy families. I am one of our two IT people, I write all our custom software and maintain our database. But over time this job has been getting to me. I am tired of seeing 12 and 13 year olds coming into our program with babies, I am growing tired of enabeling the parents to abuse our services so that their kids grow up to be just like them and abuse our services. Our program services half of Oregon and our waiting list is sooooo long its depressing. I love being a part of helping the kids but we are not really helping them or giving them any kind of future. We don't educate the parents or community on why having kids at 12 is probably a bad idea. I guess over all it's just depressing.

I have prayed like a madman so that I might learn what God wants me to do but I have come to the conclusion that he wants me to reach out to others (which I don't do... EVER) and get past my pride for some help. I would appreciate your prayers, advice and/or a bigger stick to whack our directors here around with.

Thanks

Praying for you...

God may not remove you so that you can be a light and little salt there for a bit longer.

I can provide the Big Stick...lol...sorry.

Actually, you are helping, not everyone takes advantage, and even if you can reach just that one parent or child, it may make it all worthwhile.

I will pray for you, I know how a job can be an emotional and spiritual drain, so let us all pray that God's will be done in this situation, whether it be a new job, or renewing of mind, body, and soul for Darph. (or of course, anything God decides other than those two choices, he knows best)

My prayers are with you brother....

It may just be that you are there for the very reason to reach out to these young people and help guide them and their children to a better life through Jesus. It may be as simple as having a discussion with them to let them know that no matter what happens in their life, Jesus loves them and wants to help them.

We'll be praying.

Thanks for sharing your heart Bob. This guild really provides some wonderful opportunities for learning how to better reach out to others (both inside and outside the guild) in very non-intimidating ways. I think one of the things I need to be doing more of as an officer is helping guildies to find ways to take advantage of their guild affiliation as a tool for learning how to better serve and help others.

I will definitely pray about your career and your peace of mind, but also for the organization you're serving now - that it would change its focus from just handing out free fish all the time to teaching people to catch some of the fish themselves.

Your situation has very much spoken to my heart. I don't deal well at all with people who I consider to be leeches on society. But after reading about your situation and searching my heart for a response, God reminded me that the rain falls both on the most beautiful saint and the most murderous, unrepentant sinner. He who sends the rain knows He is watering the weeds as well as the true vine (His people). But we all know what will eventually happen to the weeds - and no matter how much water we see them soaking up now, even if it be water we thirst for ourselves, a clear and true understanding of their eventual fate will allow us to put aside our anger at their leeching of undeserved blessings, and allow them to enjoy their short-lived taste of life and happiness before they are rooted up and destroyed forever.

Thanks guys, I still have no idea what to do but I feel better about the whole situation. I imagine I should come up with some kind of game plan for making a change here in this place if God doesn't want me to move on. Oh well atleast I still have donuts on my desk.

Luke 14
12Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Matthew 5
38"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
43"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I will be praying for you and wanted to share some verses that challenged me when I felt I was giving of myself with few or no results

Just thought I would give everyone an update and thank you for all your prayes. I have an interview for a new job, more pay, less stress, no gang members lol. The only catch is that I would have to go to San Fran for 6 months. With a new baby on the way this might be stressfull but my wife and I know everything will work out and are praying for direction.
