Until you buy your name (if ever), it'll show up as guest_whatever on the website and in the chat windows, but for adding buddies and stuff, you just need the regular name.

Actually, it can be completely free. If you refer a bunch of people, that's a ton of credits right there, plus there are ways (looking at the new products and this slot machine game) that give you credits daily.
