Information about the St. Louis storms

My county has officially been listed as a disaster area!

A big storm hit the area on Wesnesday and caused a TON of damage! Basically, we had been on a heat wave for several days. There was a storm headed north toward Chicago that was expected to miss us, but a small portion broke off and headed our way. As soon as it hit the hot humid St. Louis air, the storm was supercharged and exploded with energy!

I'm not sure how it effected Tek since he doesn't live to far away, but my power has been out since Wednesday evening and yesterday was one of the hottest days of the summer.

There was hope that it would be restored today, but another powerful storm ripped through the area this morning and knocked the power back out in my town, tore down a bunch more trees, and caused some major damage in towns that had been left untouched by Wednesday's storm.

I guess I could almost copy/paste this into the prayer request section because we all could use prayers that this is cleaned up and repaired quickly.

By the way, in case you wonder how I'm able to post, I'm at work. My wife was actually jealous yesterday that I was able to go to work since she was home in the heat without power. I think I heard that the heat index reached 115 degrees F.

Wow, sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you!

Yes we caught some of the storm but it wasn't too bad. I was walking my dog when it started, poor little guy was getting blown around, he was scared...lol

Some trees and power lines were blown over and it rained heavy, I couldn't see across the street at one point. It was so hot this past week, close to 100 and as humid as the amazon jungle.

I hope it all worked out.

Our power went out around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and came back on at 1:50 a.m. on Thursday. The power flickered on and off a few times yesterday, but we've had power otherwise since early Thursday morning.

Click here then click "Outage map" (link in the body of the page, in the first paragraph of text) for Ameren UE's map of outages.

I've been watching that map closely. By the way, I'm right in the middle of that big red area. ;)

Bad storms are no fun. I have first hand experience with all the Florida hurricanes. I'll be praying for you, your community, your church, and all the others that the storm affected man. I hope they get your power back on soon :-)

Thanks. My town got it the worst. My church is in another town just northeast of us and they were barely touched. My wife and I drove through that town the day after the second storm hit and we didn't see any damage at all. The crazy thing is that the town just on the other side of them got hit almost as bad as my town.

My wife just called me and said that we finally have power! Just roughly 3 more hours and it would have been exactally one week since the lights went out.
