Instances

The very first thing I must point out is, I'm just as guilty of this as anyone. I've been needing to get into Shadow Lab for the first key fragment for over a week now. I've gone twice, both times because a group had already formed and needed a healer. However, I've asked every day several times for help with that instance. SL is not the only instance either. I've asked for help with quests too. There are several people who are always ready to help, but unfortunately, there are many many more who are not. It seems that if it doesn't benefit them in some way, they just won't help.

Now I've heard all of the excuses such as maybe they're busy doing something else. If it's an instance, or perhaps watching an item on the AH, ok, but the other things usually can wait. So, I see maybe 3 good reasons not to help; time constraints, already going to or in an instance, or following an item on the AH to buy it. My problem is I don't see how out of the 17 or 18 level 70's that are generally on in the evenings, all of them are that busy.

If this doesn't describe you, then please don't be offended in any way. If it does, I hope that it doesn't offend you either, I just want it to make you stop and think for a moment.

I don't know if you were on when I was spamming:

"Level 70, 41 point holy priest, will heal for water."

Still couldn't find a group.

I have been guilty of ignoring people's requests for help in guild chat, but I also think I help out when I'm in the right frame of mind to do so. Sometimes I'm just no fun to play with and don't want to subject anyone to me lol.

It doesn't take long to see who is willing to help in guild and who is not, and when they want help, unfortunately for them, people also won't go out of my way to help them either. I for one see you as a helpful person Tarl and I'm not sure why you are not getting help back other than maybe timing.

Such is the characteristic of any casual guild, where playing is not based on teamwork so much as every man for himself, at their own pace and taking them in any number of directions. A raiding guild is the opposite where everything is done to further the guild or team, with a more defined focus....but individual wants and needs can not be easily fullfilled there.

Some people just don't get the joy of playing the game from watching others get what they want and as you put it appear somewhat selfish.

There are people in every guild that only do things for themselves or if they get something out of it, even in Redeemed. That is why they joined a casual guild not a raiding guild. I really hope people don't see me that way generally though.

There are lots of helpful people in Redeemed ....just keep asking and the timing will eventually work out.

I also need to start working on getting this first part of the key, I didn't know that SL was the first part to getting that (yes thats my fault for not doing the research and or reading on the forums here what is needed) If others are really needing this, put up LFG here on the foums with a day and time can see if other can sign up and say they will help out. Or if you have Group Calaner put it in there and see if others will sign up for it there.
I thought in the last guild meeting there were going to be one or two people that was going to be watching for players getting close to that range for this instnace and then helping them get attuned for it, now I know some people have asked to step down so I am not sure if they were the ones going to be looking out and then helping people get attuned or not. But now that I know SL is the first place to get the key then I will be more to drop what ever I am doing to get into that group (unless I am in an instance already and can't get out of it I just don't feel right leaving one group to join another even if its something I want to get done, I told the first group I will be there to help out and I try to stay to the end)
So if you want to get a group together give me a tell on either Faithkeeper or Ravanclaw and I will then get on my pally and we will go have some fun getting this first part of the key.

first part of the quest is a couple quests outside of Kara in the far southern tip of deadwind pass, have to kill a bunch of undead people, then you get sent to shadow labs to pick up your first key frag.

Back to the topic I havent seen you asking for shadow labs, I would of tried to help if I wasnt commited to something else, I kinda like that insta:) One thing that might keep me from going everytime is that my wife(Laraptor) is usually playing and we do a lot of things together and she is a holy priest so I miss out on groups sometimes if she cant get in as well. I am just dps though and what I have been noticing lately is just a lack of tanks, I am 2 runs away from revered with HH and I spent over 2 hours asking in guild, sitting in LFG the whole time and spamming in trade channel and even HH general chat trying to find a tank for SH and no luck:(

I need Shadow Labs just for pure Lower City rep, however I'm limited to running instances maybe on Fridays & Saturdays, during the weekdays I'm only on in the mornings.

i agree. yes we have many helping ppl in guild but hey they have a in game life as well.

ive for about a month been asking for a brd group or run just hoping to get ony attunement finished. and almost everytime i either get ignored or told go to a pug. ive had about 20 pugs not even get past the 3rd boss.

yes ive had a couple runs but somehow they r always get cut short and i wish that we could help out each other more and not "hog" (for lack of better word) our time and not use it for the better good.

now im not saying that whenever someone asks for a run we always drop what we r doing and run for it but just try and help us all together and if we have a free time hit that person up and ask if they still need a run.

also im not saying im the best at this because well my playing time varies alot so if i dont know if i can be on ill deny all things asked to me

In my relatively new life as a dad, I find that I am not able to dedicate the 2 hours it takes to run an instance. Grinding or farming is no prob, because I can jump into flight form and hover for 15 mins as needed. My wife has been gracious enough to give me two nights to myself! At least one of those is Kara, so that only gives me one instance a week. (Check my rep on the armory page, you will find I am not reveared with ANYONE!)

Anyways, not sure if that helps, but that's a little glimpse into my life.

I have noticed out Guild Chat turning into LFG channels at times, yet it is tough to find 5 people online at the same time who all want to run the same instance at the same time. I personally do not fault anyone for not wanting to drop everything and run an instance for two hours at the drop of a hat.

In previous guilds I have been in we restricted the LFG spam in guild chat and instead had a LFG forum, that way people can post in advance and get a group together who will all log in and do the instance.

Cuts down on LFG spam in guild chat and greatly cuts down on the aggravation of finding a group.

We have a Fellowship forum that hasn't been used since November of last year, can we just convert that to a LFG forum so we can all find groups easier?

If this were not a Christian Guild, I would agree with that statement. But realizing that we are a Christian Guild, and viewing that in light of Romans Chapter 12, I believe that we should do just that. We are to be a light and a beacon to the world, yet we act just as the non-Christian guilds do; worrying more about ourselves than our brothers and sisters in Christ. Now, I know that all of us are at a different level in our walk with Christ, and that some are more mature than others (I am not pointing fingers, or saying I'm any better than anyone else; for I stumble more than I should) so it's hard to get a group going "at the drop of a hat". It's just that we are a church just as much as Sparks Christian Fellowship is a church, and I see the same things happening here that I see with brothers and sisters I can see and touch. It breaks my heart, and in light of the Scriptures, I believe it breaks our Father's heart too, to see His children behaving in this manner. Whether I get attuned for Kara or not is not the issue; it's that there are several mature Christians in this guild, and they should set an example to the younger Christians still feeding on the milk of the Word that is worthy. Most do, this isn't written for them. As our Lord and Saviour said, "It is not the healthy who need a Physician, but the sick".

Aside from any other reasons, logistically it is tough to find 4 other people of the correct class and level to run the same instance at the same time, just the way it is.

Also, we all have differing schedules and it is tough to have the schedules all match up as well. Also, there are probably times when people need a priest for an instance....in our guild probably very rarely....but I'm not on but could have rearranged my schedule to be on if I only knew about it in advance.

Just seems to me that if we have a forum that will solve most of the issues.

ive been thinking....yesterday i got kinda upset because yet again no one would do an instances and yet again they were doing ony and so i got upset. this was a wrong doing on my part and im srry.

im posting this here because this is about instances.

the only reason i joined this guild was to grow in my relationship with God and to make good christians freinds. I have lost that concept and because of it i think of what i want not what we as a hole need.

People that need to get attuned for kara nad other high end instances should be put before the lowbies who want a run so they can lvl. Im not saying that lowbies like myself should be ignored because we shouldnt! but that lvl 70s that can help should be.

Now to go against what i just said i think that lowbies should be helped because personally i cant stand just questing or just grinding. i want instances! so i think we should somehow set a system up were we decide on what we should do. Also i think we should run the lvl 60 instances that r enjoyable maybe twice a month just for fun and the lowbies taht r lvling to be able to enjoy the thrill of things like ony.

i hope my long idea helps yall because now that im thinking it makes alot more since then getting mad at each other :)

Problem with helping lowbies is that it only helps you to grow as a player if you group with same levelled toons. You get walked through too many instas and when you get to higher level and have to actually be on your game and do everything right to survive you hit a learning curve. I Know of a 70 warrior friend of mine that had problems tanking ramparts at L70 just because she had never been expected to tank before, we always ran her through instas with 70s. I know its hard to find groups for anything pre-bc if not impossible but I think you will find groups coming much easier once you get to outlands.

I think one thing that people need to be smart about is spamming the guild chat looking for tanks when there arent even any warriors, pallies or druids on, no sense in asking every minute for a tank when you can look at the guild list as see none on. Maybe ask once just to see if any alts are on that have tanks as a main and they might help but no sense in spamming.

I'm usually up for most instances, and Where is right about asking for help from distantly higher leveled toons and the learning your class type thing. Anyways, I also need to run through Shadow Labs for the first key frag and I usually don't like pubs. Still 69 though so anything that has nice drops or yields good exp I'm up for.

i know that and thats y ppl wouldnt help me when i was lower lvl but come on im lvl 58 now and its ONLY a run not u powerlvling me...and pugs r nearly impossible!

You need to run lots of pugs so that when you turn 70 and start running with us, we will seem like heros! (We really are heros!)

I've run with you a few times in the past week! We tore up ramparts!

58 is still not 69. It's for your own good that you run instances with toons your own level. Do you really think all of us that are 70 got to 70 without having to PuG a few instances? I still PuG instances on my 64 priest and at times on Meli. PuGs are inevitable no matter how you look at it. And they do help you. They help you learn how to play your class in different situations. Say you're in a PuG with a horrid tank. You learn not to pull agro as much because you're too worried about not being first on the damage meter. Things like that will help you in the long run.

I would have to say that over the life of my account, I've been in 70% PuGs, and 30% Guild-heavy instances or Guild-only instances.
