the title pretty much says it all. I loved ejays style but not ejays price tag. ive googled alot this morning but not finding anything specifically like ejay or acid
is there a free ejay type program for mac?

One of my friends uses protools (it is rather expensive though), at the bottom of the wikipedia entry there is a Comparison of multitrack recording software which has breakdowns of some of them including many GPL'd.

Audacity is free and open source. FL Studio has a free version. If you want to get into production as a serious hobby or career though, you'll pretty much have to pay some money, unfortunately.
I'm a strong believer in open source software, and I don't think there's any general computer task that can't be done exceptionally well with open source programs, but when you get into specialized tasks like video editing and sound production, you'll pretty much always get what you pay for.

well the main thing that dance ejay gives me is the midi database to use and work with and thats what i need primarily
midi loops of guitars, pianos, synth stuff, drums, bass, random vocals, etc.
You sure those are MIDI? They can't really be "of" anything if they're just raw MIDI data. If they're loops of certain instruments they're probably WAVs or AIFFs or something. If that's the case you should be able to use the loops you have with just about any sequencer you like, although you may have to jump through a few format-conversion hoops.

thats the thing i dont have any loops lol. dance ejay 5 comes with over 5000 different ones
