This verse was on my mind recently - Mark 8:36 - What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
And of course we know that Jesus is saying that there is no point to gaining earthly things while never knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
This got me thinking about some math.
(Man + whole world) - Christ = 0
Then I did another math problem.
Man + Christ = Everything
Sometimes I get discouraged because I don't always have a lot of money, I wonder how to pay bills, make ends meet. But then when I do the math, I have Christ, therefore I am filthy rich, for I have everything that matters.
I hope you are encouraged as a child of God to know that we are so deeply and richly blessed for we have the greatest treasure and as Peter says - an inheritance that can never spoil or fade. Hang in there!
