Kinda leaving...asdf!?

It does have all that actually. In fact some of the holiday crafting items are really powerful, not only jokes that don't serve a long lasting purpose (they have those too). I have seen some awesome holiday items for your in-game house too. Why live with only the main town's christmas tree when you can craft one and put it in your own home!

Apparently its a whole new game since release. They changed it from being "80% group mandatory" to a "95% soloable by all classes" game. Some Instances can be entered in the equivalent of Normal mode, Heroic mode, or Solo mode.

Plus they added the Mentor feature where no matter what lvl your friends are they can instantly become your level. All their skills auto tune-down to your level and they can even gain XP killing stuff that you would be killing. Plus they can gain talent pts that they could not of otherwise. How awesome is that? It no longer matters if your friends or guildies or wife out levels you. There is still a great incentive for them to group with you via the mentor system and its rewards.

And one final tidbit, the xPac in Nov will be an all-in-one providing the base game +4 expansions +3 adventure packs for $39

Uh oh. Now what's my excuse going to be for sticking with WoW?

Actually I prefer games that make teamwork almost mandatory. Sure, raids in wow require people to do their parts, even in 5 mans. But in those 5 mans, if you lose someone, theres a good chance someone else can double up on what that lost person was doing, whether it be tank, DPS or heal.

Then you are playing the wrong game. WoW as you know can be soloed all the way to max lvl with no worry. And with crafted armor + AH you can be ultra endgame powerful without ever grouping once. In fact you will get to max lvl faster if you don't group and just sologrind greens/quest for hours on end. Only the final raids need teamwork. Because even instances can be soloed as Sandman does regularly.

You might want to check out FFXI. I hear they are truly "almost mandatory grouping" over there. EQ1 and EQ2 were also both forced grouping when they first launched. But the masses spoke up so strongly they rewrote the game.

And what is usually meant by forced grouping is that you cannot under most circumstances kill mobs your lvl solo. Every quest you want to undertake and every mob you need to kill just cant be done alone, due to the monsters HP/power vs yours. Every random wandering patrol is certain death unless grouped.

I agree that forced grouping "sounds" good in theory but it is incredibly painful and basically takes out the "casual" in a game. For example in EQ1 every time I logged in I had to spend 20mins finding a solid group, then travel 20-30 mins with that group to the desired hunting location. (you couldn't travel there solo, because even that was forced grouping) After I was done, I had to run 30mins back to a safe place to log, because in a forced grouping game, there are no safe spots to camp cause any wandering mob will destroy you if you are found solo.

Anyways.. the majority of players do not want this type of game anymore.

WoW and EQ2 both have it right now. Make the game soloable, but make nice incentives to group and make certain content, instances and loot reachable only through teamwork.

Icthus recently got his ride pimped!

I'll just quote your entire post because I can.

I know wow isn't too good with requiring grouping. I don't like how every class can solo things, even holy priests can do shadow. This is why Pugs are so, or used to be so terrible. People dont know how to act in a group. If they play a supporting class such as a healer, or a tank, they may not know how to heal others efficiently, or they may not know how to hold agro. I have complained about this before.

I don't want to look for a new game, because I have friends here and I made many friends while I was in Holicron Knights. Also, I play wow because certain people who shall remain nameless cammandusicthusmirialliajazminablednnynandotherpeopleicantrememberrightnow, iamsorry.

I have found that "forced grouping" can work very well if the game is done well. DAoC didn't have very many quests when we stopped playing, but you could group to farm exp and gold. In reality, the only places you NEEDED a group was in PVP or doing master levels, Dragon Raids or the rare Caer Sidi raid.

So I am quite aware that it doesn't make sense that I play wow and not another "grouping" MMO.

:D
