Crazy,

Let me tell you, you are not alone dude.  I used to struggle with this exact thing.  If you want to talk, IM me at t4stywh34t.

Let me offer one bit of advice, a general bit that I feel is good for everyone.  If there is something on the internet that is causing you to sin, FLEE FROM IT.  I say this in all seriousness, from someone who comes from your position.  If you realize that when you get on your computer the temptation will flare up, turn the computer off.  Get away from it.  Do not give Satan a foothold.  Bible verses that helped me with this:

"Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."  ~ 2 Timothy 2:22

"Flee from sexual immorality.  All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he he who sins sexually sins against his own body."  ~ 1 Corinthians 6:18

Those are just two of many helpful verses.  Remember this, though; when you flee from sin, Satan does some running as well:

"Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from YOU."  ~ James 4:7

Don't forget, we're all here for you.

rgr. If you need someone to chat to crazy grab my AIM - rizzmuppet.

Its one of the hardest things in the world to grow up being a single christian male. Going through teenage years in a place where stuff like that is virtually everywhere.

I think most males have a problem like this at some point in their lives. If they dont then i would wonder in fact. They would probably be lying anyway. Its something i had a problem with also.

I found that you can try anything and everything to combat it, but its always there if you want to give in to it. I found that after trying every method i knew and some i didnt. After going before God time and time again to help me....
The thing that finally stopped me was getting closer to God. Not focusing on the thing but setting my priorities right. Making sure i had a time with God every morning and asking him to watch me. Drawing closer to him in prayer and reading. Then i found the need to do all this stuff (not just that too, stuf like drinking and other nasties) it just faded. In the space of about a week i went from being totally afraid of when i would next slip up to being totally not wanting to go near anything like that.

The main thing is (as was preached here a bit ago in my church)... You have to make a decision now. And be sure of it. You prepare yourself now and get God to back you up. Then when temptation is sprung on you, you will know what to do.

An example of this is a bf/gf relationship. If you decide beforehand what your boundaries are etc.. when you are there with her and things could go out of hand, you will altready know you have to stop and God will help you stop. If you dotn decide beforehand how can you be prepared for something that might happen in the heat of the moment.

Ok i rambled a bit. Anyway grab me on AIM if u wanna chat. Also i think ur the man for coming on here and posting about it. God will bless you for it.

I know this may sound odd, but install parent-filters. You should be able to find some free ones out there.

That way, even if you install them yourself and know the password, it's less of a temptation to go look, and you have to actively decide to input the password. It gives you an extra layer of consideration prior to finding yourself looking at this

Make no mistake. This is something all human males who own computers deal with. The reason pornography is far more popular nowadays than it was is because there's far less accountability. Instead of having to go to a certain store at a certain location to pay money to buy a certain magazine, one can now type in a quick search and find it littered across cyberspace.

One must be careful not to identify the heterosexual sex drive as a thing to be hated and denied. Temptation is not sin; to say so is to say that Jesus, who was tempted, sinned and thus the Gospel is a lie. What matters is how we react to the temptation. We will be tempted, no doubt. We are tempted every time we sit down at the keyboard--every single one of us.

I could ramble on for a while and produce a rough draft article off the top of my head, but I'll instead leave you with a helpful resource and save the remainder of the article for another time.

Setting Captives Free is an excellent resource for young men struggling with this very issue.

Covenant Eyes is another excellent program. It restores the accountability lost since the commercialization of the Internet.

Both are terrific resources and will be added to the Christian Gamers Alliance as soon as I start building up the links section.

Again, you are not alone. I know everyone here commends you for your honesty and humility. This is a very serious issue and I have every intention of addressing it at length through the Christian Gamers Alliance and Tribe of Judah sites. The Internet is, for people like me, at once the greatest vehicle for reaching people and the gateway to temptation. There's too much work to do for the Kingdom and the Internet is too powerful a tool to let ourselves be swept away by such addictions.

I went through the course at SCF and it really changed my life .. but one thing I must say is to agree with Rizz... the biggest part of getting victory over this is to focus onto Jesus .. make Him your source .. If you make Him the source of living water ( and follow some principles regarding purity etc) , then you Will make it ... As for covenant eyes.. It is also a great resource .. also have a look at www.x3watch.com (released by the 2 pastors from www.xxxchurch.com ...) Free ( ;) ....

also my 2 cents on filters .. The key to getting free from P+M is accountability (maybe here is a gap for the mentorship programme ) which is easier with a tool like X3watch, since a lot of people has had technical snafus and difficulties with using their pc's with filters..and filters don't update regularly .... 121949341 ... Hey Crazy man dude the sad part is how its always there for us as men to find and get, man you have some serious guts to get up and say anything about it man, i know i couldnt. so props on your honesty man. Dude best thing really to do is not to be up late searching the web alone, doesnt mean you cant play games just hehe play till u fall alseep like me
tounge.gif
but also man sounds corny but maybe keep a cross or the Bible next to your computer so when you are tempted you can just look at a little reminder.

With the sex driven society of america this is a problem for guys not only not to look at it, but also not to take action in RL, sometimes the way we act in our real lives out side of this box can and does effect us.

anyway my ranting is over LOL man God bless and props to you.

just kind of an update.. i've been tempted.. and i have fallen
sad.gif
.. i am going to talk with my youth pastor soon about this topic.. i am kinda nervous considering he will be like the first "adult" i will be talking with this about.. i just hope he can help me through this, so please just pray for me and i will post back here after i talk with him and i hope sooooooooo much that i can get over this.. oh gosh, the temptation!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.. it can be too much at times.. just keep me in your prayers and hope i can get through this and become more of a godly man.. thanks for all of your support guys!
God Bless
~Ryan~

I will stick you on the prayer list...I understand how easy it is to fall.. We are ina society today when if you want to do something bad (in any area) then you can just go out and do it.. there is no limitations.

Its just the way society goes unfortunately. We must remain strong and keep close to God. Thats the only way to overcome temptation like this. It used to be a case of just distancing yourself from any way you get tempted. Thats no longer an option.. This stuff is /everywhere/ you look. Its now a case of drawing closer to god and letting him work inside you, letting him remove the desire.

Its probably different in the usa to here but i think the emphasis is still the same. God bless u crazy man.

Crazy this is going to sound mean but

GET OFF THE INTERNET and drop all your WORLDLY friends. those 2 things are BIG stumbling blocks, they have been with me and many others.

Also dont EVER EVER hope i think that is a bad PMA

instead KNOW that God will help you through all temptations because he will not tempt you he will let you be tempt but he knows how much you can and can not handle so he never over burdens you Put your trust, trust isnt a hope its knowing some one will come through for you, in Him and he WILL make your paths straight and true
