No they tell you the problem and get mad when you say the solution

The idea is to figure out when they just need a listening board and when they are actually asking for advice.

Get a book on body language and communication, I have about a 90% success rate for people liking me now. Most of the communication issues between people is a misunderstanding.

rofl, I personally think its a personality thing, some people have to stumble around to understand a concept, while some of us use binoculars to study it then attempt it.
