Hey all,

When I play a game or go online more that an hour or so, I get such headaches and a eyestrain feeling..I think it may be CRT related...I've read LCD's are better for your eyes...but am unsure about game performance on them..

Just wondering if anyone here runs games on an LCD monitor and if you have any suggestions for brands

I use an LCD by KDS. Its only 15 in and I can't get better than 1024x768 res on it, but it works for me. On some games (DAOC primarily) at night time its really, really dark. Other than that, I really like it.

Hey I use a crt monitor by KDS and I have no problems. The eyestrain can be caused by a low refresh rate on your monitor, try raising it to a higher refresh rate say 85hz or so if your monitor can handle it.
I use a KDS XF-9bi at 1152x864 @ 85Hz and I have no problems. Also any game I may play that requires a different resolution say for ex. Diablo 2 at 800x600 I try to keep at 85Hz. Hope it helps.:D

CGamer, I haven't seen you around for awhile.

LCD's are better for the eyes. Plus, most people spend more time using a pc for regular work than for gaming and an LCD really helps alot in this area. Plus, with LCD's down to 16ms response time nowadays, LCD's are not bad at all for gaming. I recommend some of the ones Dell has, Samsung, as well as the Viewsonic series that is geared toward graphics and gaming. Peace.

I use a diamond pro CRT at over 70hz and i never get headaches anymore.. or course you need a spanking graphics card to keep it happy.

I dunno that LCD are better for you, the reson i didnt get one of those is that the frame rate is the suxor for gaming, but it seems they have improved since then

I've been using a Compaq FP745A (15" LCD) for almost 2 years. It's sharp, bright, and the colors are wonderful. My whole computer experience has been changed. Games look great. I have also found it great for viewing/editing photos.

Unfortunately 15" LCDs have a max of 1024x768, but I haven't found this to be too bad. The only time it's a problem is when editing photos.
