LINK: 2000 videos pulled from AnimeMusicVideos.org following legal threat

Popular AMV site AnimeMusicVideos.org has been served with a cease & desist order by an unnamed record label in regards to AMVs using music from Evanescence, Creed, and Seether.

According to AnimeMusicVideos.org admin "Phade" the copyright holders for those three bands do not want the bands music distributed on the website. Their legal representation stated that it would be acceptable if AnmeMusciVideo.org removed their links to all the AMV featuring those bands.

In total close to 2000 AMVs have been removed from the website.

According to Phade, the lawyer representing the record label/copyright holders stated that the AMVs and the website came to the copyright holders attention when a fan contacted them and asked if the AMVs hosted on AnimeMusicVideos.org were created by the band.

Wow. Two THOUSAND videos featured music from those three bands. While I wish AMV.org the best, I half-hope that the representatives for Linkin Park serve a similar letter. That would strike a few thousand lousy videos from the site and force AMV authors to use something other than "In The End." An AMV is supposed to be more enjoyable with the sound on, after all.

An anime music video? That sounded really bizarre until I remembered that Hexstatic did an Astroboy video set to Perfect Bird, which wasn't as good as the original but still wasn't bad.

lol ive made about 6 AMV's but havent visited AMV.org in a while. but yeah tek ur right if they pull linkin park songs it'll be closer to 6000-7000 prolly
