Mario Kart DS is the Kart game to end all Kart games

Yes, it's about time, isn't it? There's quite a few...interesting kart games out there, that seem to be clogging the shelves.

Anyway, Mario Kart DS is absolutely amazing. I'm fully qualified to say this having spent an entire hour and half playing the game, all of it in single-player.

In all seriousness though, the single-player game so far is quite spectacular. There are 32 tracks total, and many of the brand spankin' new tracks in the Nitro Prix are very well designed. Good fun to be had. Nintendo also seemed to accurately pick the best tracks of old from the previous Mario Kart games. Though I haven't seen the final retro cup yet, the first three each contain four tracks that were pulled from prior MK installments and refitted to the DS. Each past MK installment is represented with one track per cup, and Nintendo pulled out some of the best tracks.

I haven't yet tried multiplayer in any capacity (I don't want to drop 35 on the Wi-Fi Connector just yet, and am not fond of the prospect of smearing McDonald's fry grease over my DS), but I'm sure the reviews are accurate here as well, and there's plenty of solid fun to be had.

To anyone who has a DS, check this game out. While the game doesn't utilize the touch screen during racing or voice recognition in any capacity, it's serious fun. The standard issue "map screen" is extremely helpful, as it shows every obstacle and weapon on the road as well as your opponents within close proximity.

If you don't have a DS, sell your cat on Ebay, along with your PS2, and go get the Mario Kart DS bundle. You get a red DS (only way to acquire this color so far), as well as a checkered wrist strap. Ownage.

OK, I'll stop peddling Mario Kart DS now. I'm serious though, the game owns, and again, this statement was made on a whopping one and a half hours of gameplay (six cup races), so it's completely objective and free from the hyperbole that comes from initial impressions...I'm serious...really...entirely...very sure...indeed...yeap.

So far Advance Wars: Dual Strike has been taking up all my spare five minuteses. I'll check that out when I'm finished.

Alright, after extended playtime, I have to say, this game is amazing. While I still haven't had the opportunity to take the game online yet, I've played through the entire Grand Prix portion of Single-player. It has to be the best Mario Kart yet. I have to warn you though, most of the unlockable characters are creepy...really creepy.
