New expansion coming out...
Not enough BBQ'ing has been going on...
The beach is calling ...

What's that mean?
MEATCLYSM 2010

Mirakle and Gilga are going to, in some form or another, host a weekend LAN party the weekend after Cataclysm is released, somewhere in northern San Diego County. The deal would be this:
1) Get yourself to a nearby airport (San Diego or Orange County) and we'll get you a ride
2) Bring a laptop, the game, and headphones
3) Accomodations will be provided ... notionally some sort of rental beach house with decent wifi
4) We'll probably ask for a contribution for food costs. General idea is to keep expenses low/minimal once you get yourself there, but there are still some variables before we can say "$10/person" vs. "$30/person" or whatever.

Anyhow, we'd like to get an idea of how many people are interested so that we can hone in on finding the right accomodations.

We'd also like to get an idea around timing. We'd do two nights, but don't know whether Thursday-Friday nights would be better (so people fly back Saturday night for church at home on Sunday) or Fri-Sat nights (so it becomes a weekend thing and doesn't mean a Friday workday). Obviously you'd be welcome to come for any part of it if a 2-night stretch wouldn't work.

So, let us know on the survey. We're not asking you to COMMIT here but since we're using to make decisions that will cost money, please be 60-70% confident that you'd want to / be able to come. If the poll options don't fit, feel free to comment below or send us a PM. Thanks!

"I'm interested but really don't know about my timing/availability"

That one spoke to me... never mind the fact its like 2500 miles away haha.

Having hosted Cam, I can tell you that he would way prefer a bed to a tent.

He has spent too many nights in the desert to be sleeping in a tent with nice beds so close. Besides, it is hard to WoW from a tent.

I'll have to find out how much plane tickets cost etc. but I would love to come out for a 2 night thing and hang with you guys.

I saw the thread title and couldn't help but think of Coach of Left 4 Dead 2 describing himself as a "one-man cheeseburger apocalypse."

Back on topic, this sounds like an absolute blast. Especially the beach part. (<3 the beach.) But I live in the Midwest and I'm unemployed. :( And my wife probably shouldn't be traveling by plane when she's 22 weeks pregnant.

But I wish you all the best! Be sure to snap pictures and post them.

Isn't it paradoxical to criticize the Camm option for being unrealistic? Isn't the whole point of the Camm option be be unrealistic? Or was I being too clever by half when I hewed so close to realism in my unrealistic suggestion?

Well, as resident Camm expert on Camm options, Camm really never would have voted for anything with Camm in it.

The closest he come is "the front calls".

Probably the top three are-

1. The front calls
2. The french are responsible
3. A Clinton did it.

However, as you so well point out, Camm likes the off the wall vote the most.

Thanks to the resounding consensus around timing (8 votes with 5 = "maybe" and 3 = "whenever" .. arghh!) ... we just took a stab and are going to make it Friday and Saturday nights. Meatclysm is thus notionally a Friday noon through Sunday noon kind of event, although we'd expect some to need to leave Saturday night to get home for church.

The super-cheap Southwest fare sale ends tonight/Thursday night. I wish we had more logistics worked out in terms of recommendations for when to arrive so that we can lump people together for pickups, but we don't. But still, if you want to take a stab and lock in a super-cheap flight (a $60 round trip fare from the Bay Area to SoCal ... even with change fees that's a bargain), we'd recommend the San Diego airport.

Otherwise, more details to come, as soon as we can figure them out.
