Methods of securing e-mail?

Once in a while, I have to send out new passwords to staff members and I'm not very comfortable sending them by POP3 or webmail. Is there any way, other than using a Hushmail account, to conveniently secure e-mail? I want something simple yet secure.

even with hushmail, unless you are sending the data encrypted and signed, there is no way to ensure security.


After all, way good is a hushmail account if once it gets to my server I download it in clear text?
