currently this is what I have realized as crucial is semi-important:

TitanPanel
MapCoord
Captographer(Spelling)
Monkey Quest

Any others that are crucial??

if you want to keep what you have and add some great functionality try these.

Bagnon - opens all bags together at once AND keeps a small datafile on all characters bags and banks.. so If I am on my main I can check out what my Bank Alt has in his bank without logging out...

CTMod Basic - great bottom and action bar mods, disable or don't install the CT_MapMod if your using Cartographer because Cartographer is better.

Identity - great mod for those with alts and more alts so the rest of the guild can keep up... also cool for raiding and groups .

DragQueen - this is awesome! you can move your widows around by dragging!!! including character window, trade windows, vendor windows, try it out pretty cool!

GuildBankAccount - duh!

DamageMeters - keeps a running tab of damage done/taken, healing done/received, etc. for the whole party or group. very helpful to know who is the BIG dog in the group for the BOP arguments... =)

In the default WoW UI you can now move your windows, an addon is no longer needed...

I dislike Ace2, for actions bars I use Bongos 2, the best!!!

I get all mine stuff from Curse.com...

Bartender 3 is what I use for Bar mods, I used to use Bongos but it wasn't Ace2 compatible and it has all the same features and functions of Bongos.

Heres what I use for mods that I would deem neccessity.

Omen & Threat - makes sure you don't pull aggro off the tanks.
BigWigs - If you raid it's an absolute must as it warns you about Boss events.
LittleWigs - Boss info for Outland 5man instances
Quartz - For any caster, let's you know when you can start casting the next spell based on lag. This is for the best dps & casting efficiency possible. It also makes tracking incoming casts much easier to track.

Use in conjunction with the macro command /stopcasting...

Ex macro..
/stopcasting
/cast Mind Blast

The /stopcasting command will not be necessary in 2.3 patch as it will implemented in servers when you press, click a new spell.
Class Timers - Tracks all your DoT's.

In my opinion these are absolute musts for addons, any others are your personal preference.

I use...
Bartender 3 - Bar mod
Prat - Chat mod
Freerefills - Auto buys food, drinks, reagents when I visit vendors.
Automaton - Automatically does common stuff for you.
DurabilityFu - Auto repair and % armor damage tracker
Reagantfu - small fubar addon that shows my current amount of reagents
DPSFu - tracks my dps
Mobhealth3 - Gives numerical values on mobs health
XLoot - Compact loot window
XLootGroup - Compact item roll windows
EEPanels - lets me customize my UI
XPerl - Unitframe addon modifies the standard untiframes, gives more useful info
Examiner - lets you check out ppl's gear and shows many useful information enchanced inspect basically

Auctioneer - Easy AH selling & buying.
AtlasLoot - rep items, pvp item, boss drops, etc...
Cartographer - Enchanced Map function
Simple combat log - Easy to read combat log info
Simpleminimap - modifies the minimap
QuestFu - Questlog tracker
ClosetGnome - Easy 1 click switching between armor sets

I have a few other but these are my main ones.

I also dislike Bartender because it does not have it's own XP bar, and I had many problems with moving icons and stuff with it...

Current addons:

AlphaMap (Fan's Update) - Good, usable while walking, map, works with AL
Atlasloot Enhanced - Instance Loots (AL)
Bongos2 - Action Bars
Identity - Helps identify your alts to others
MobInfo-2 - Mob Health(3) and other information
MonkeyBuddy - Configures Monkey Quest
MonkeyQuest - GREAT quest frame
OmniCC - Cooldowns for everything
Titan Panel - duh!...lol...

Used to use Auctioneer (highly recommend), but it started to bug out on me...
XPerl Unitframes is very good if you like to change the look of the game...but I don't...

Everyone needs to get lightheaded. (Brings wowhead quest data into your quest log, if you click on a coord, a big arrow pops up to direct you.)

Doublewide is another awesome mod for questing.

My problem with Ace and WowAceUpdater:

From Site: "These are BETA addons you are updating and you should expect to see cutting edge features which may not be fully functional or bug-free. If this doesn't sound appealing for you, stop reading this page and update your addons through release versions from mod sites instead. Some addons are more beta than others."

That's just like the warnings on medications showing the possible side effects. The problems are very rare. In fact, other than an occasional hiccup with pallypower, I've never had a problem.

Bartender does have its own xp bar. And the icon problem was in a previous release which is now corrected as of 2-3releases ago.
